I don't understand why we are being monitored by Agent Mike

anyone who has spent any time on this board knows we don't tolerate any kind of threats, and if Mike has spent any time at any of our DU gatherings he must know the main goal is to have a good time. Our activism consists of just trying to get fair elections and Democrats in office.

Why is he wasting his time here?

I had assumed that he was a figment of someone's imagination, as a joke, and that other DUers bit, and he became real to them.

Is there really an agent monitoring DU? I would believe you if you say so.

Bev Harris mentioned someone named "Agent Mike" a while back. Apparently he makes himself useful by monitoring this message board, much like many of us do.

It certainly doesn't seem like a terrible job description, does it?

I've never ever seen DUers target someone and try to collectively hunt them down through a screen name. I did see that happen on Free Republic, to me. Agent Mike is monitoring the wrong folks.

People have been fired after "investigations" of their identity just because someone here was pissed at them.

Someone even called WillPitt's employer and attempted to get him fired during the Dean Wars.

I didn't mean "nicer." I meant "lazier." You are correct, I have never seen DUers attempt to research information like that---but, I have seen them gang up.

CIA/FBI type sent to keep an eye and report back on the anti-American shenanigans at this non asskroft approved web site. Stuff like when we stumble across and post facts, or expose the true motives behind an event or announcement of the real enemy in this country, the right wing nuts running this country into the ground.

No need to post here, however if you feel you are, talk with friends or family about it and let someone know.

It is happening alot I think, primarily due to the Patriot Act. It has happened to me as well and I have mentioned it to close friends.

If you feel you are being threatened in some way, don't be silent about it. Let someone else know.

It is a violation of your Civil Liberties.

13. This is going to sound goofy, but

before Bush came to town a couple of years ago, a car with men showed at my house and asked me a couple of general questions. I thought it was wierd, but didn't think too much about it until I read the paper later in which it said that FBI in trenchcoats were checking out the people in the area. Then I wondered. But if they were checking on me they were wasting their time.

Defying protocol, analyst Mike Scheuer criticizes the administration for Iraq war and losing focus on Al
Qaeda.

WASHINGTON – It's a little like yelling an obscenity at a wedding. In the etiquette of Washington, it has
always been an unwritten rule that members of the CIA don't publicly criticize the people they work for -
namely the US government.
From the agency's inception some 50 years ago, the mantra of top officials in particular has been to
provide "hard" information - estimates and analyses - not public opinions about their bosses' policies or
veracity.


Now a senior CIA official is violating the trench-coat oath - and roiling already sensitive relations between
the White House and the nation's top spy agency. It comes at a time of major reform of the nation's
intelligence apparatus.

Mike Scheuer, a 22-year veteran who works in the CIA's Counterterrorist Center and is a former head of its
Osama bin Laden unit, is criticizing the Bush administration for going to war in Iraq and for the way it has
conducted the war on terror in general. And he's doing it very publicly.
