Do you think any Repubs are having second thoughts about voting for Bush?
Are there some that are sincerely concerned about the direction our country is going, and still voted for Bush? Or do they have supreme confidence in their "born-again" leader? Is there just a small tingle in their subconscious that a mistake may have been made? Do they believe that it really doesn't make any difference who they vote for? Or do they expect peace and proserity just around the corner? Or is all this war and killing just a fulfillment of the Prophecies?

1. i cant talk to them yet, so i dont know
i had one 6 months of me going on and on and on about her christianity, and bush and kerry......dems and repugs, the whole history and current events. still at the end she sat in indesicion on who to vote. a couple days after election, she thanked me profusely for convincing her to check kerry. now she will not have to burden the guilt and shame of voting for bush. i know that is what my people will eventually feel if they dont already

3. Republicans have thoughts?
I figured they were into pavlonian conditioned reflexes. Hadn't reached the "thought" stage yet.

5. One friend of mine who voted for *
Because of "security" is also pro-choice. Yesterday I received an e-mail from her circulating a petition to block the nomination of some uber-fundie forced birther to head up the FDA. Guess she thinks that's gonna do some damage control with her Kerry supporter friends. As if. I really wanted to respond with a sarcastic comment about her Godly President and His Holy Mandate but I didn't. Yeah, I think a lot of them, especially if they have socially liberal views, are going to be regretting their decision real soon.

6. Yes (Moderate Republican here; not a flame)
I voted for Bush in 2000, but not this time. I agreed with the war in Afghanistan, but completely disagreed with Iraq. IMO it could easily be the Viet Nam of this generation in that it's next to impossible to win, will cost many lives on both sides, will drain the economy, and is also a diversion from real threats (Al Queda, Iran, N. Korea). We went in without any strong alliances nor with any post-war plan. Socially, I'm probably more conservative than most on this board, but still find the influence of the far right to be too much. While I am still a moderate Republican (which is why I'm here on DU, trying to have honest, respectful dialog with all of you), I am also upset how he squandered the unity after 9/11 and instead created more partisanship. Both sides need to work together, and I am uncertain about the Republican domination of government. Nothing in the last four years has given me hope that he will seek more bipartisanship. I still respect the office, as I would if Clinton/Kerry/Dean were there, but am not pleased with his performance so far.

9. Welcome to DU!
:toast:

Do you know, just about everything you cited above is how I believe many here feel. Sometimes DU can be a bit, ah, 'reactionary', but if you keep posting thoughtful comments like you just did I doubt you'll have any trouble :)

Again, welcome!
