anyone remember the somewhat corny movie, "Poltergeist II"? i love the first one, the sequel was a bit forced, but it did have a very scary character, the creepy preacher, reverend henry kane, played by the late julian beck. there's probably never been a scarier movie spook than that one, the long dead preacher, who is actually the beast.
reverend henry kane in life had been a crazy hellfire preacher who'd amassed a flock of true believers who all followed him straight into a suicide pact, and hell. and he used to go around smiling eerily and singing his favorite hymn...'god is in, his holy tem-ple', and generally creeping the living hell out of everyone.
that's the mentality we are now fighting in real life america. and insane cult leader, with literally tens of millions of blind devotees, ala jim jones. no shit, it's scary and it ain't even a movie.
dubya says that 'freedom is god almighty's gift to the world', including the people of the middle east. and he says of the slaughter in afghanistan and iraq, 'freedom is on the march'. it's as if a hollywood horror hack had written the script for him.
he says freedom is on the march, but mothers are having their unborn babies blasted out of them by our tax dollars, and our sons and daughters, who carry bibles and crucifixes with them into battle.
he says freedom is god almighty's gift to the oppressed peoples of the world, but some say 200,000 innocent people have died in those two accursed nations, since we liberated them and brought them freedom.
whoever these people are that write bush's speeches, god knows it's not him, they are totally fucking insane, like reverend henry kane. every time i hear dubya say that line written for him about how god almighty's gift of freedom is on the march, i can't help but think of the good reverend henry kane singing happily with a monstrous smile.....'god is innnnnn, his ho-ly temmmmm-ple'.......
