The Iraq War is the opening salvo in a long drawn out campaign
against the New Untermenschen of the world ( The Muslims/Arabs) by the U.S.,Britain and Israel. This war, which James Woolsey, the creepy bugeyed director of CIA called the Fourth World War is going to be with us a long time if George W.Bush has anything to say about it.Even if the Democrats ascend to power it will continue unabated because of the Democrats' fear that they will be branded as Soft on Terror. The re-formation of The Committe on The Present Danger by Woolsey and Lieberman is meant to reinforce the bipartisan nature of this policy.

1. You might be right
But the problem obviously is that there really is a problem with terrorism. Unless you believe 9/11 largely fabricated by the Bush Administration (which I understand some do), we probably really do need to do something to address international terrorism. Had Kerry been elected I expect he would have done something about it too. Which would fit right in with this semi-paranoid suggestion.

6. Well
In reality little. However if we are talking about the Administration ginning up a phoney reason for continuous war, than Iraq fits in that.

2. You left out the rest of the third world.
They are still trying treat the symptoms rather the causes. The people of the third world are growing weary of living lives of starvation, disease, and hopelessness, while being ripped off by the corporations backed by the brute force of our military.

Now that they can see that "the Worlds Mightiest Military Power" can't even control an impoverished 3rd world country, we can expect a lot more of the same.

The "troops" will soon see themselves, not as conquering heroes, but as pawns being moved around the globe trying to suppress the latest outbreak of slave revolts.

From Afghanistan to Iraq to...

3. This just the start
we're going to be in the stew for generations to come, and people can't see that. There isn't anyway this stops at Iraq, we've started an all out war to control the dwindling energy resources of the planet.
Instead of sucking it up and trying to find a better way to go, we'll bully the rest of the world to get out way. I'm afraid of the comeuppance headed our way.
