36. I'd trust my husband to take them |
|
He wants to delay having children more than me. In fact, I'd prefer it. I am questioning whether or not some of my current health problems might be, inpart, side effects of the pill. I think that it would be a good option for married couples who want to delay child bearing and trust each other as well as single men who want to assure that they won't father children. If I were a single woman though, I probably would want a back up method of my own.

My last child was born in 1957, I had to have my husband, and I think it was three doctors sign my papers to have a Tubal Ligation ...because of health problems, some people don't realize just how few years back it was that there were laws concerning birth control.

because they do not care about babies or children or any of that crap. it is about controlling women.
men getting snipped would be a horror -- women could have sex knowing getting pregnant is impossible. the religiously insane don't want that.
(i had a vasectomy in 1998. it's a good idea.)

7. An Interesting Question, Ma'am |
|
It is not too dissimilar to wondering why they do not agitate to ban divorce. Vasectomy is certainly opposed to the spirit of the sexual regulations of the Old Testament, and would probably count towards barring any man who hadd undergone the procedure from approaching the altar or entering a place of worship. Divorce, though regulated in the Old Testament, is specifically forbidden by the words of the Christ in the Gospels.
The reason, of course, is simply that, whatever these reptiles claim as their motive, and as justification for their views, their real purpose is simply the re-imposition of chattel status on women: that is the sum of morality for them, all else is window-dressing....

I don't want to be a parent, don't feel I'll be a capable parent, and adpotion makes more sense to me given my genetics. So I plan on having a vasectomy.
That's one reason I support NARAL.

18. Fundies claim life starts at conception. Stopping conception |
|
therefore doesn't kill a life.
Catholic theology is more thorough, thus more complicated. At one point in the Middle Ages, Catholics believed that male sperm was the human being, and the egg was more of an incubator. There was some debate then whether masturbation was murder. Nocturnal emissions were considered like non-productive sex-- not good, but not anyone's fault.
I don't know the current theology for Catholics, but their tradition was that interfering with conception in any way was wrong.

That used to be a popular method of birth control among Catholics back in my parents' day. You got a vasectomy, which in those days weren't reversible, then you went to confession and got forgiven. I know that priests often, off the cuff, recommended this loophole to couples who didn't want any more children.

"each and every marriage act (meaning sex) must remain open to the transmission of life"
You can't be forgiven once for the vasectomy, you would have to be forgiven each time you had intercourse after that.
Of course, some priests are more human than others. My grandmother was pschizophrenic, and was advised to have a historectomy after her second child. She was almost excommunicated for it.

It does seem the Church has taken a hard turn to the right these past decades. Too bad. They were coming in the modern world slowly and this present Pope stopped all of that. I surprised they haven't brought the Inquisition back.

|
Planned Parenthood has a list of all the anti-abortion organizations, who runs them, how to get in touch with them, mission statements, etc.
Many of them has the banning of contraceptives as their ultimate goal.
Go to the Planned Parenthood website and take a look.

17. There's a book I wish the whole country would read |
|
by Jonathan Kirsch called God Against the Gods: the history of the war between monotheism and polytheism.
Not only is a reminder of how intolerance has been a hallmark of monotheism, but it is interesting to read all the talk about harlots -the general obsession with the oppression of the female gender.
If these folks get this crusade mentality off the ground the way it looks like they're doing, don't expect them to stop.

If these yahoos are so worried about gay marriage destroying families, why aren't they worried about divorce? Divorce destroys a lot more families than all the gay marriages combined.

I want these good Christians to prove their manly ability to reproduce.
Rick Sanatorium should have had more than 6-kids. The rhythm method ain't that great, and I don't think he is a man of abstinance.
Tom DeLay a good fundie should really have a tribe of children by now.
These guys are such lying hippocrites they could care less about children most of them don't even spend any time with their own, those that have them.
The Republican Congress is now studying and doing research on the affects of Porn while ignoring the serious National health issues of the children.
