In protest of the 2004 election fraud and the continuing war in Iraq, I am
boycotting Thanksgiving. I will be fasting that day in protest. Screw the holidays this year. I'm not in a holiday mood.

2. My wife and I are not uying anything for
Christmas this year and we have instructed our family members to please not buy anything for us. I think most of us should be saving our money anyhow. Things are going to get very bleak here in a few years.

5. We did this last year - no presents, no tree, no lights
And we'll do the same this year.

It isn't because we are just trying to be somber - we are trying to curb our consumer like tendencies. Why kill a tree just to hang ornaments on it and then throw it out a few weeks later? Why waste energy on lights? Why spend money on presents when the money isn't there? We've started to create some other kinds of traditions, ones that don't cost money or energy. And any gifts we do give, we try to make - so that it's truly a gift from the heart and not from the mall. I refuse to step foot in a mall anymore.

3. I understand completely, but....
I think Mark Morford would suggest that you most definitely have A LOT of liberal fun -- sex, love, flowers. It really pisses the radical right off in the perfect way. He did an essay called Hippie Crap Saves the World. Wonderful!
