Homeland Security Dept. is in total disarray. (WP/MSNBC)
WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 — Six months after it was established to protect the nation from terrorism, the Department of Homeland Security is hobbled by money woes, disorganization, turf battles and unsteady support from the White House, and has made only halting progress toward its goals, according to administration officials and independent experts.

THE TOP two officials under Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge are stepping down amid criticism from some White House officials and elsewhere in the administration. So few people want to work at the department that more than 15 people declined requests to apply for the top post in its intelligence unit — and many others turned down offers to run several other key offices, government officials said.

Just like Iraq, the BFEE has no plan to do anything but grab as much money as they can as fast as they can.

1. Put it in the "No shit, Sherlock" file..
Homeland Gestapo is a disaster waiting to happen.

They're very UNDERFUNDED, and nothing is useful coming out of this, until it is appropriately fixed, and Chimp is washing his hands out of this department.

Wanna bet the next Dem President will make sure it's appropriately funded or shut it down?

2. Homeland Security is a misnomer, and should never have been created
We already have a DEFENSE department.. The whole thing was smoke and mirrors from the beginning , and was a thinly veiled plan to provide work for Tommy-Boy Ridge.. He's no more qualified to run that department, than I am..

If they had been truly concerned about Homeland Security, they would have just added enough money to the organizations that were already in existence, and bought some decent communication system to get them all linked together, so they could share information..

They did not NEED the DHS.. It's just another republican boondoggle :(

7. How can you say that the Tucker Carlson cloning project went awry?
It sure looks like an improvement to me.

3. Hey, anybody need a job?
According to the article, the top intelligence post is up for grabs. You, yes you evil DUer!, could be the chief spook at Homeland Security. I'll bet you could spy on Crisco Johnny or Dr. Strangefeld, and they couldn't do a thing about it -- it'd be for Homeland Security!

4. They created the department..................
(originally proposed by Democrats) because of polling. Polls said that people thought it would be a good idea. Bush, ever the bandwagon jumper, claimed the notion as his and championed it. Bush never wanted this department, as is evidenced by underfunding and the total chaos surrounding it. That it is in such terrible shape, is a tribute to Bush's entire reign as Emporer. Everything he touches turns to shit.

(Civil Service, Fed union, and so on) and plenty of people will still want to work for the Department.

LOL!

The question is not whether America can redefeat Dubya, it's whether America can recover from Dubya after he is redefeated.
