Gannon contradicts himself and White House in Obscure Internet Postings |
|
http://www.dkosopedia.com/index.php/Jeff_GannonTuesday, March 01, 2005 Jeff Gannon Contradicts Himself and the White House in Obscure Internet Postings From 2004 and Before By ADVOCATE STAFF <snip> On his blog, Gannon now says, " I helped get Harry Reid (D-NV) his promotion," and refers to himself as "a reporter that helped bring the beloved Tom Daschle down." http://www.jeffgannon.com/
A more detailed search of Gannon's publicly-accessible (or, at one time publicly-accessible) writings reveals a man who never, ever, under any circumstances should have been allowed to play at being a White House reporter for a (to hear Ari Fleischer tell it) "news" organization.
Consider this recent exchange with NBC's Campbell Brown: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7022981/
<snip> Does anyone believe the Secret Service let Gannon get within ten feet of a sitting President without doing a thorough--for starters--internet search of his on-line presence, which search would reveal him posing suggestively, half-naked, for the camera?

2. Regarding that Secret Service/background check |
|
Absolutely spot on! Last May, I traveled with my daughter's class to Washington DC for a five day visit to museums, monuments, government buildings, etc. One day included a tour of the Pentagon. We were escorted by an officer who worked directly under the Joint Chiefs counter terrorism office. (The officer is a best friend to the brother of one of the parents on the trip.)
Anyhoo...before the trip, each and every person had to provide our social security numbers, DOB, birthplace, and maiden names (when appropriate) at least two weeks prior to our arrival in Washington. The tour wasn't scheduled till the third day. There were about 15-20 children aged 12 to 17 and six adults. ALL of us were checked. The tour itself was great! We got a special, non-canned one (even walking right past Rummies office just to give you an idea).
So, if WE were checked on this little jaunt to that extent, I have a very hard time believing that any individual requesting entry to the WH mingling among the Press Corps would have nothing short of a FULL background check.

6. Reminds me of Roy Cohn |
|
His hubris was his downfall, also. Makes me wonder just how many self loathing in the closet men there are wandering the halls of the GOP.

was a great debacle and I am afraid we are headed that way again. And, yes, I remember Roy Cohn.

10. Guckert will be rolling in dough when he publishes his book |
|
Unless, of course, he goes to jail.
Then I believe "The Son of Sam Law" will forbid him from profiting from it.
Title suggestions? (Keep them clean)
