Martha Stewart has done her time, now it's time for Ken Lay to do his |
|
No matter what your feelings are about Martha Stewart, she does support the Democratic party: http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=CT&last=stewart&first=marthaand this whole thing with her reeks, but she's done her time and now it's time for the Enron group to theirs--in fact, it's past time.

1. What's it been about 5 years ... |
|
since ENRON first broke? Justice sure takes it's time when your a member of the Bush Crime Family. Martha's already been tried, convicted and served her time. As far as I know Kenny Boy has no charges pending.

3. Kenny's being charged with lying to the banks for persoal loans-- |
|
a big shock when those were filed--they're provable, not too complex & confusing (like the rest of the Enron tangle) and convicting him should be easy. He's going down, eventually (& then he'll be pardoned, of course...)

it makes me sick to think of how much they get away with, but I've always been taught--and do agree--what goes around does indeed come back around, just maybe not as fast as we want, but it will.

Kenny Boy said he didn't know that all of this was going on; he was completely in the dark! This is how Bush got away with his WMD claims. In this Brave New World, "I didn't know" is a legal defense.

in fact he approved it. THAT is a fact, however, I can see your point...in this administration denial seems to be the tool that works best when trying to get off the hook for something. I've never seen anything like it.

2. It was a lousy conviction |
|
She was never charged with insider trading, let alone convicted of it. She was charged with lying about an email. An email!
Shoot, if somebody asked me about an email, I'd probably be unable to tell them what they wanted to hear, and my volume is nowhere near what she undoubtedly has to deal with, spam and all.
She served her time, and her conviction is still being appealed. I sincerely hope the bogus conviction is overturned (never mind the FBI lied and her accuser was a cokehead how couldn't tell the same story twice to save his life) and she sues the whole lot of them.
Had they charged her with insider trading and made it stick, I'd have cheered them for getting at least one rich bitch who didn't think the laws were for her taken down a peg. However, this one stinks at all levels.
And Kennyboy Lay is still free as a birdie.

6. My respect for her went up |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 11:18 AM by ryan_cats
My respect for her went up when she dropped her appeal and did her time.
I'll be very surprised if the crook Kenny-boy does any times. He seems to have high friends in high places.

10. She didn't drop her appeal |

However she did elect to serve her time and get it out of the way.

I can't say I felt sorry for her, as she should have known better, but she was brave enough to take the punishment, and will end up better for it. I only wish Kenny-boy, Kolzlowski, the Rigases, etc would get convicted too. Civil suits by employees who got screwed would be great too, but are probably just a pipe dream (any lawyers here who can answer this?).
