How to circumvent the media... |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 09:24 PM by Memekiller
I've been thinking the only way around the cable news media shills is the Internet. I know there are sites like Indiemedia that allow "independent" reporting, but because there's no editorial control, any crazy crap can get on there. And blogs only work because they link to other organizations. What we need is a web site that actually does reporting (calling, interviewing, digging -- all the things the news used to do).
Has anyone done a sort of Talon news thing, except with people with actual journalism backgrounds editing and contributing articles? They could pursue "tips" given to them from reporters who have had stories spiked by timid media empires, that sort of thing.
I know Raw Story is starting an alternative media wire, so that's a start...

4. please take back unnecessary ridiculing slur on Indymedia |
|
Indymedia is a good resource the oppurtunity and experience it has given me for self-publishing has made my life better
if you are adiscerning person you can sift through any crap you might find
and if you think it's not good enough..do your part to pick it up a notch and contribute your own stories
stop bandie ing about smear words like crazy
fallacious arguments do not serve us
besides nothing can be crazier than dropping 500lb bombs on 180lb persons
a very small # of articles are without absolutely no merit
be your own editor
don't expect your info served on a platter
IndyMedia is very dynamic, community based
I hope this is just your hasty opinion and not part of an 'agenda'
besides one can even post images with stories
go to Cleve indymedia put culturejamcleveland in search engine and tell me there 's not some good thoughts ideas going on there
portland is also a good site
earthrainbownetwork a huge email news compelation newsletter sites indymedia sites all the time
please my friend, give it a chance and take back the slur there is enough of that going on

Indiemedia serves it's function. I've posted some stuff on their myself. But I also think there's a place for a similar site with editorial oversight with some quality control (perhaps even a "best of" IndieMedia stories).

6. after good night's sleep I realized... |

they do have editorial control on each sites front page
each city has a volunteer team that designs front page and then you also have open newswire
and they are great to alerting to actions protests demonstrations
as for best of there is now US indymedia site, have not had time to go there but seems like it is providing the culling function-like seattle did originally
also www.indymedia.org grabs the best stories from other sites
as for will pitt he has a site, what more does he need to do
get over the need to read familar names, recognized names, what are u afraid of a hex of some sort
it should have to do with the message not the messenger
chomsky does not make enough crucial sense to me any more
as in indie music one may never have heard of the band and they may have a goofy name but some of the mmusic can blow your shakin' shimmee chalras WIDE OPEN!
PEACE, my friend
