My supercool totally pro-life idea! |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 08:50 AM by readmoreoften
I always thought I was pro-choice, but everyone's arguments about the poor little helpless fetuses have totally broken my heart. I have particularly been interested in what the men have to say on this issue, because they have very few legal rights in these matters and I know that makes them very frustrated.
But I have an idea on how we can stop abortion, pre-marital sex, and rape *forever*: temporary, chemical castration of all males until marriage.
Now wait! I know what you're going to say-- this is unfair to gay men. But gay men can file a form with the Bureau of Reproductive Services and avoid the testicular needle.
Let's face it, all abortion arguments are skewed by the rape issue. Because women really don't have control over their fate as impregnatable beings and it's cruel to force a women to give birth to a child conceived in rape. So, I say, that instead of regulating WOMEN'S bodies, it would be far more affective to REGULATE THE BODIES OF MEN.
If you are a good man, by the time you're ready for marriage it will be easy to prove that you're fit to impregnate. Of course, men can still cause problems by raping women after they marry. My remedy for that is permanent castration.
Think of all the fetuses you guys will save by giving up this little thing. I mean, this could REVITALIZE the democratic party! Abortion would no longer be a wedge issue! The democrats might win the election. Then lives would be saved in Iraq as well. Social security would be saved. I understand that you want your sexual pleasure before marriage... but is it worth the lives of millions of fetuses and thousands of Iraqi children and what about the soldiers lives?
If you men are willing to have your bodies regulated by law, so much good will come out it. I really think there are larger issues than straight male sexuality going on right now.
I hope we can work together on this issue.

I think we should float it and see how many bites we get. It will prove the hypocracy of all those men out there who are so willing to regulate the bodies of women to save the precious fetus. Let's see what kind of sacrifice they are willing to make; and how they will feel about having their bodies regulated.

8. And the great thing about it is... |
|
It also stops premarital sex, which by the way is by definition a heterosexual phenomenon since homosexuals like myself cannot get married. Pregnancy and STDs are caused by premarital sex and the only way to stop it is temporary reversible castration of the male until marriage.
I know it sounds harsh, but fetuses are dying, y'all. Family values is all I'm saying.

I don't think it would have much impact upon rape though. Guys with vasectomies like sex as much as anyone they just can't impregnate. It would be a boom for the "Free Sex" era. Disease would likely be a major problem though. More sex the more STDs and believe me if women knew they could not get pregnant there would be more sex...

Vasectomies will not stop rape and, I believe are not 100% correctable. I'm talking about the temporary reversible castration like they do to rapists. The penis will not even get erect.

put your penis where your mouth is. (Oh sounds gross) Belly up to the bar boys and take your medicine. After all as a previous poster has said it will stop teens from pre-marital sex. It's all about supporting family values and ending abortion.
Think about it from a male patriarchal point of view: Women just can't be trusted not to engage in irresponsible pre-marital sex and then those trollops just want to flush the precious fetus (Created by the magical male sperm) down the drain. So for their own good we mighty all powerful, all intelligent men must control women's bodies.
So men go a step further and make an even greater sacrifice. So us puny weak and vacillating women what sacrifice is all about.
You can do it!

15. Another old idea revived |
|
Back in the "good" old days, it was thought that saltpeter should be added to food, because it supposedly suppressed testicular function in exactly the way you're talking about. And institutions such as prisons and orphanages would actually serve up such food to their inmates (almost typed "ingrates;" what was I thinking? :-) ) in the interests of preserving the peace.
I don't know if it really worked, or if there were any lingering bad effects from this treatment. Certainly there are enough other reasons why prisons and orphanages are not considered to be pleasant.

That's a deal and a half isn't it? With all the men castrated except for the married non-rapists, how many women will have three non-medically necessary abortions?

Only thing is that if I were a teenage girl again, I wouldn't want to be deprived of all that lovely premarital sex, and if I were a teenage boy, life would be hell with castration.
I'd rather have a foolproof temporary way to block or divert the semen, than castration. Except for rapists and child molesters.
But putting the responsibility on males: fantastic idea!

The Victorians did it! They called it 'romantic friendships' and they prepared you for marriage. Gay sex was okay as long as it didn't last a lifetime. Certainly that will depress many of us who are gay because our highschool sweethearts will just be using us for sex. But very few people stay with their highschool sweethearts for life.
People will just have to adjust, I suppose.

27. Here are the code words that did well in the focus group: |
|
Instead of "chemical castration" say "scientific solution". "Chemical castration" is harder to sell...all the focus groups said so. If we are going to sell this initiative to the American public, we must rephrase the argument.
Code words include the following:
"strengthen" and "restore" American morality
"End" the cruel, harmful act of "ABORTION". (loudly emphasize the word ABORTION. If you say ABORTION loud and often enough, people won't pay attention to the pesky details in the "scientific solution".)
"Anti-teen pregnancy"
Fighting the "epidemic" of "children" having children. (repeat epidemic when discussing both ABORTION and teen sex and always refer to teenagers as "children")
"Ending all alleged rapes" (the word "alleged" will keep rapists from getting their feelings hurt and voting against the "scientific solution". We still need their support, right?)
Food for thought, the Red State focus groups would prefer that gay men also utilize the "scientific solution" too. Many feel America must strengthen and restore morality by ending the epidemic of gay male sex which is harmful to children. Plus, they hate gay people. I would recommend, however, that all fake news reporters be exempt from such measures.

I think that as liberals we should let this pass, and then immediately fight for gay men's rights to an erection as our #1 human rights issue. After all, they don't cause pregancy or premarital sex.
Plus, once all those RW men stop producing testosterone for a few years, they won't give a shit about anything anyhow. They'll all be big fat happy eunuchs. And then we can reclaim the government.

Where gay men can inject a substance that will undo the 'scientific solution'. We will turn a blind eye to this accept as it pertains to the Heterosexual Family Man who should always be marriage-minded.
In 5 years (let's call it 'The Five Year Plan To Decency') gay and lesbian people will be considered the hearty moral leaders of the nation because all the testosterone junkies will be cured.
And another thing:
Did you realize that way back when in 2005 they considered ABORTION to be the issue. They didn't know that the real women's issue of control of her body was TO STOP THE INVASIVE SPERM in the first place! No functioning testicles, no semen, no unwanted pregnancy, no abortion.

36. Actually, there is an awful book called |
|
"A History of Rape" (I'm pretty sure) it is some of the worst science you'll ever see. It says that men are all by nature rapists because the genetics of a dragonfly say so. The solution was to cover all women's bodies and force them into chastity. My idea is better.
No, I do not believe that all men are rapists or even potential rapists. But many are pro-life and I want them to see that they too can give something to the cause! The straight conservative male democrats are always telling pro-life women and GLBT folks to 'give up' their non-essential issues for the sake of the party. I just want to show these fellow democrats that they have something that they can sacrifice too... since we're willing to cut corners on human rights for the sake of party unity.
I'm sorry you didn't find it funny. I guess your ability to be happy and free and physically whole and to give and share love is as important of an issue to you as it is to me.

You are on fire today!
I don't think all men are rapists either. But too often their attitudes towards women and pregnancy are all too cavalier.
Men need to think about what they say. It is easy to want to control someone else's life and body as long as you and your gender never have to face the consequences of your decisions that affect the opposite gender.
It is a good thing to think about it from another angle. If the issue is so important that one entire gender (female) needs to have restrictions placed on their bodies then why shouldn't we see what type of equal sacrifices the male gender can make for the same issue?

51. Genius. The drug can painlessly be ingested thru big cigars, and |
|
other phallic substitutes if the men are worried about their virility. A PR campaign has to be developed that would make it MORE manly to have the castration shot until you are married rather than to stay 'intact'. Along the lines of making it more manly to use condoms, and not smoking, etc. I think this is brilliant, and a good test of seeing if all those pro-forced birth men who want to control women's bodies, would be willing to put their bodies on the line to preserve the sanctity of all the precious souls they are so anxious to use women's bodies to save.

52. Just posted this on another site and this is the responce i got... |
|
"You're in favor of federally mandated birth control of an entire gender? How would you feel if the government announced that all unmarried women would be forced to inject chemicals in their body to prevent them from conceiving and could only have a baby if they were legally wed?
No, I'm not in favor of anything so completely totalitarian. I'm sure it was meant as a jest."
and
"I wasn't aware there are no longer women in our government. I don't see how this relates to the pro-choice movement at all. No one has to the best of my knowledge advocated enforced birth control for all unmarried women. Some politicians oppose abortion, some favor limits, some prefer abortions on demand. None of these politicians advocate enforced sterilization, so what "interesting twist" does this put on the abortion debate? I really don't understand the point of the piece. I see that it's meant to be funny, but I fail to see how it is thought-provoking."

55. Okay. Let's divert the funds from stem cell research |
|
We will demand that our country needs the assistance of all patriotic American males to participate in clinical trials so that every male before the age of 13 can be "vaccinated" as part of his immunizations before entering middle school. This will be a birth control shot, not a castration. People can still have sex, but there will be no abortions. They are having sex anyway, so why not make males responsible for birth control since one male can impregnate several females? Will the Catholics raise hell about birth control for men?

Funds would come from Bush's "Abstinence programs." No need to teach abstinence if males cannot have sex, right?
We could also use money that will be saved on TANF payments, child suppport collection agency funding, AIDS treatments (the spread of AIDS would decrease), and State adoption programs (if there are no unwanted babies, there is no need for a State adoption department).

66. No, it's not a pro-choice agenda |
|
It's a pro-temporary castration agenda, that's all. It's just going to the root of the problem with pregnancy: the contents of testicles. This ends the abortion debate.
If it's not thought-provoking to the reader, maybe they're not thinking enough?

53. Bad for the economy. If we men stop thinking about sex all the time, |
|
our productivity would go up at least 200 to 500%. If 1 man can do the work of 5, think what that will do to unemployment figures! Plus, once they get married and start thinking about sex again, their productivity will decrease and married men won't be able to compete in the workplace.

Males from the age of 13 up would be mandated to receive their shots until they were married. Gay men would be exempt.
This would ensure the elimination of unwanted pregnancies and men wouldn't be *deprived* of their say over women's bodies (for or against their partner having an abortion).
It would alleviate the failure to pay child support dilemma, we could do away with Clinton's Responsible Fatherhood Initiative and save a shit load of money that pours into the Child Support Collection Agency.
There is no reason the RWers should oppose this, premarital sex is a a *sin.*
I'm sure the hetereo males would be willing to take a small hit for the team, right?
Great idea!

As the originator of the New Pro Life Initiative I'll have big ties to the White House! Cronyism will be my new motto: What is necessary for the good of mankind is not necessary formy pals. I will have the anti-dote and I can have a nurse administer it to my cool straight guy pals!
Think about it. Millions of horny straight women who need an illegal stud to satify them... just use birth control so you don't get caught!

71. NEW CRUCIAL INFORMATION ON THIS TOPIC!!!! |
|
Did you know that JESUS HIMSELF supports my pro-life plan???
Consider this. Castration for God is a teaching of Christ!
"But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs from the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it." (Matthew 19:11-12)
And in the The Scholar's Version says: "There are castrated men who castrated themselves because of Heaven's imperial rule. If you are able to accept this (advice), do so."
WOW, I just might be a pro-life fundamentalist yet!!!!

78. And why don't you know this? THE LIBERAL AGENDA |
|
If you were surrounded by biblically sound Christians, then you would know what what a eunuch is because the true followers of God would be overflowing with enthusiasm, just chomping at the bit to tell you all about it.
I believe that this should be implemented. The new 'liberal' so-called human rights crusade will be to go against Jesus' wishes and let unmarried men just copulate and fornicate at will, instead of being good fathers and husbands and church deacons as God and The Lord Jesus Christ intended.
Oh, in maybe ten or twenty years the liberals will be able to overturn these laws, and I think men are just going to be have to be patient during these years. If we adopt the overturning of the new Pro-Life laws, we will NEVER win an election. Besides, it's easy to get around... if you don't want castration just stay married and faithful! What's the big deal???? Your rights will come, but please be patient. Don't undermine the good of the party because you want to have extramarital sex. I think that's very selfish.

83. I read that the castrati were busy lovers |
|
Castrati were men, opera singers, who underwent castration before puberty to preserve high voices. I read that they were highly sought-after as lovers, not only because they sang lead parts & had the groupie thing going for them, but more importantly because they couldn't impregnate anyone. Suprisingly (to me) they were still able to function, sexually.
So if sex w/o shame or fear is the best sex, then JC maybe had a point when he suggested becoming a eunich for God. Woo Hoo!

85. Most eunuchs can't 'function' |
|
Actually millions of castrati have existed in Western culture.60 During the Byzantine empire, eunuchism was particularly popular. There were eunuchs in ancient Greece. Also, there were eunuchs in China (the last died out in the 1960s).
The majority of eunuchs can't 'function'. Although, they can still be a 'bottom'. They might be able to feel a certain kind of sexual pleasure, but it is often much different from what I hear.

You will have millions of followers! Perhaps this could be the start a new sort of movement of the "Left Behind" ilk, but it would instead speak to the glory of prenuptial castration...for the glory of God..and all those souls that would be saved due to all the abortions that would be avoided. As you said, if prenuptial sex is a sin anyway, how could they argue against it?

73. I'm sorry I'm just a god-fearing fundamentalist... |

I just speak the Truth. I just repeat the Word of God and take it literally. I didn't say that all ye men shall be eunuchs for the good of the kingdom of heaven. CHRIST SAYS IT.
So, seriously, all RW men should be able to get on board with this one. They are so busy railing against gays and Jesus never even said anything about homosexuality.
But he did say that Man should be a Eunuch for God.
They want a theocracy? BRING IT ON!

79. If you combine obligatory castration for any convicted rapist, I fullly... |
|
....support your plan.
I would also want the rapist incarcerated for a minimum of 10 years if the female was over the age of 18, and a minimum of 25 years if under the age of 18, at a prison that required all inmates to either participate in buiding furniture or/and sewing clothing for children.
By the way, I'm a male.
Peace.

Absolutely, in my plan, all married, un-castrated men who rape are permanently castrated. I will agree to your addition to the penance of sewing and building furniture for children. Maybe also forcing them into a life of making lace doilies as well.
Let's hit these fascists where it counts.
