Anybody out there that can tell me about
Federal disability?

My husband was just diagnosed with End stage liver failure, he's going to have to have a liver transplant ( if he lives long enough ) He currently has no insurance. Someone told us about federal disability, anybody out there have any insight on how to obtain it?

get a good SSI lawyer (they work on a contingent basis, based on the merits of your case), because you will need it.

good luck!

2. Do most people get rejected?
Why?

Is it really a difficult process?

of hemophilia and was rejected on the first try.

i think it's because they don't want to spend the money (and lots of social type programs like these are taking a lot of hits nowadays in dubya's world).

it's not really difficult as it is time consuming. be patient. remain undaunted. get an attorney.

and just go right to the source: the local social security office in your area is pretty much where you need to go. take your relevant documents with you (and copies).

5. I'm disabled and on SSDI-my prayers to both of you, the process
of SSDI takes well over a year, there are many rejections of claims--get an attorney for the best results.

8. Contact the Social Security Administration
to apply - you can even do an interview over the phone - their website will answer all of your questions. I don't think you get Medicare until 2 yrs after you receive the disability. He would proabably qualify for Medicaid which is a state run program - contact your local Dept of Soc Svcs for more info. Good luck!

9. I can't help you since I'm German but want to give you some hope.
You are dealing with people, and most people have a heart. Tell them exactly how urgent it is - I'm sure there must be a way to speed the process for people whose life is endangered. Ask who is the exact person you would have to ask for "mercy", so to speak. Best wishes to you and your husband!
