It's A Miracle! Dubya Saw A Rainbow In Romania! What Does It Mean?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 12:27 PM by norml
During his just finished press conference, he referred to the incident, as though it had some great significance. Here are his words of wisdom concerning this phenomenal event. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/07/20040721-10.html http://www.roembus.org/english/news/international_media/2002/ap_23-11-2002-1.htm

every once in a while, an asshole gets to see a rainbow.

24. All you can do
with stuff like this is just laugh. The rainbow according to Christians is supposed to be a symbol from God that he won't flood the Earth again. So what in the world does this have to do with Bush and his madness?

11. The rainbow ended where Ceausescu made his last speech.
Now why would God be pointing at that spot while our fearless leader is making a speech?

9. Quotes from the press conference, concerning the Rainbow Speech...
Mr. President, may I say also that the honor for us, being here, it's a great privilege, a great honor. We remember with great pleasure your visit to Bucharest and the rainbow speech, and the gathering of more than 200,000 people.

Thank you very much again.

snip

You know, I'll never forget my trip to Bucharest at the rainbow speech. It was one of the most moving experiences of my Presidency. And the reason why was that the rainbow, itself, that appeared in the midst of a rainstorm in front of 200-plus-thousand people ended right behind -- from my vision, ended right behind the place where the tyrant, Ceausescu, gave his last speech. It was -- it was a very powerful message. It moved me deeply during the moment.

And it still moves me to think that there was a powerful message being delivered by nature, to the point where I remember turning back to the people of Romania and said, "God is smiling on Bucharest." And I meant that.

And part of my beliefs, Mr. Prime Minister, is that -- that one of the great universal values of the world is that men and women deserve to be free. And here we are talking about an election voted on, in your country and mine, by free people.

Thank you for coming.

13. Bush:
"I . . . said 'God is smiling on the people of Bucharest.' And I meant that."

WTF?

If BUSH meant it, then it was true? Once again, he has some special knowledge of the divine meaning of events? Can he hear himself pontificating?

My head is spinning.

... Marie Antoinette, and Czar Nicholas! Either he doesn't know the full story or he's chosen to overlook the gruesome endings (which would kind of detract from his peace/love/democracy message).

16. Bush Hosts Romanian President
President Bush called Romania a steadfast ally of freedom. He said they discussed the situation in neighboring Moldova, where elections were recently held, as well as the situation in the Middle East.

Romania has about 800 troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has built strong ties with the United States in recent years. President Bush visited Bucharest in November 2002 and he remembered the large crowd that turned out to welcome him in a rainstorm.

"It was one of the most amazing moments of my presidency, to be speaking in the square, the very square where Ceausescu gave his last speech," Mr. Bush said.

Mr. Bush noted that a rainbow appeared in the sky that day. He called it a sign of the power of freedom.

17. The rainbow spoke to Dubya - shades of Jimi Hendrix
"...there was a powerful message being delivered by nature..."

I haven't spoken to rainbows since 1969.

20. Shit, didn't Shrub get the memo about rainbows?
When white sunlight is intercepted by a drop of water in the atmosphere, some of the light refracts into the drop, reflects from the drop's inner surface, and then refracts out of the drop. As with the prism, the first refraction separates the sunlight into its component colors, and the second refraction increases the separation. The result is the rainbow.

Quick, someone send off another memo, no gold at the end of the rainbow and no leprechauns.

Glad 60 million intelligent people elected a man with the brain of a five year old.

The Legend of the Rainbow Warriors

The rainbow story is told many ways and in many different places around the world, including on Turtle Island (North America). It has been glimpsed in vision and told for hundreds of years, from dozens of perspectives.
