I know I wouldn't want that old, grizzled, vindictive criminal for a father.

2. I think Bill's lucky he only had to deal with his alcoholic stepdad,
rather than the much-more-f'ed-up Bush family. Although, with his brains and the Bush connections, he might well have been running the world by now...

3. No Poppy, you are the father of the most hated man in the world
and we are not happy about your parenting skills.

Clinton is just being polite to you. Yeah, I know it is a strange concept to the likes of you, but it's just the sort of guy the Big Dawg is. He can even make the likes of Poppy Bush feel wanted, appreciated and loved.

7. You're right.
GHW is the father GW never had. He was constantly gone on business. All of GW's life has been an obsessive quest to get his father's attention, outdo his father, prove he was as good or better. Yikes. So many issues in that family. Unfortunately, we are the ones who have to pay.

just fine without him -- much better than those who did have him for a father... Aside from that, being "the father he never had" is not an honor that you bestow upon yourself IMO...

26. No Shit!!
The is a friend of mine, in Louisville, Kentucky...and, of him, I frequently say that "he is the brother I never had." HE never said that of himself...I BESTOWED THAT HONOR UPON HIM!!

In fact, I do have a flesh and blood brother, who is seven different kinds of idiot, and to whom I have not spoken in six years, and, if I'm lucky, it'll be thirty more before I ever do...and then, only because it would be at my mother's funeral...and then never again! This brother I refer to as "my idiot brother." And the friend, from Louisville, I just call him my brother.

Also, his parents, now both decesaed, are, in a way, surrogate parents to me, and they have a special place in my heart. I'm very tight with my flesh and blood mother, but, still there is a special place in my heart for my brother's mom. And I never DID get along very well with my dad, so HIS dad is sorta like the dad I never had.

Now, understand the source of why I call my flesh and blood brother "my idiot brother."
1. He's a Southern Baptist.
2. He's a Republican.
3. He's a redneck nerd in a bowling shirt.
4. That little bastard blackmailed me into doing unspeakable acts with him when we were kids...and now, I'M the pervert, because I'm a transsexual!! :wtf:
5. Because I am a "pervert" he will not let me within ten miles of my own niece and nephew, and has completely poisoned their little minds against me so badly I may never have a chance for them to get to know who I really am. And that I am not the evil perverted Grendel he has made me out to be in their minds.

That enough reasons why I hate my idiot brother? And why I needed a guy like my friend in Louisville, to be my brother? He has been, for ten years, a healer, a mentor, a friend...he gave me a home for three years when I had nowhere else to go...he's been a brother to me in every way that matters. and he knows I feel this way about him.

Recently, he got married, and I was proud to stand up for him at his wedding. And, because I was destitute and poor, and he knew this...he even arranged to pay for my airfare, hotel room, and meals while I was up there, just so I COULD come, and stand up for him. Which tells me a lot about how much he values me.

AND, I am now shortly on my way back to Pennsylvania, to move back in with my mom, and my brother has offered up him home as a stopping point on my way, just to save me hotel expenses!

Incidentally, at his wedding, some of my brother's new in-laws actually believed I really was his sister, too...because we DO resemble one another quite a bit.

At any rate, this guy...I have declared him to be the brother I never had. And he...being an only child...well, he's never come out and said it to me, but I know he regards me as his sister, and looks out for me as any brother would look out for his sister.

I find it incredibly CRASS for GHWB to confer such an honor upon himself. If Bill clinton felt that way about GHWB, then it should have been BILL CLINTON who made that statement...not GHWB.

15. Clinton is the son HE never had.
Highly intelligent & moral (about the things that really matter). With real skills dealing with people.

Clinton may have had to make do with a bad stepfather, but his mother was apparently first rate. Bush copulated with a gorgon & wonders why his brood is monstrous.

16. Maybe Clinton is the son that Poppy never had
All his boys turned out to be slackers, living off the family fortunes and connections. Poppy may have wished his boy had been a Rhodes Scholar, but was stuck with a C student at best. He may have wished his son had made something of his life between his legacy education at Yale and his 40th birthday and the end of his love affair with the bottle.

22. Bill Clinton respects his elders
And his peers.

And his juniors.

So, Bill Clinton knows to respect people (and yes, I do realize he's had a few significant lapses). He does it because it's right, not because he wants to prove how much he loves Jebus.

George Bush (Junior) does not respect people very much. In fact, most of his team has a naked contempt for anyone other than themselves.

Forget your gut feelings for just a moment. Think about what this means to people who have nothing to go on except what they see.

Bill Clinton's very existence is a rebuke to the religiomaniacal Boy-King.

Edited to add:

And then demand an apology to clear my deceased mother's honor.

After GHWB investigated her passport . . . if it were true (I know, I know, this is not exactly the right aspect of the statement), I would say that was one hell of a way to treat "a former lover" . . .

But his recent love affair with the bushthugs has driven me to despair. Fuck Poppy Seed, and Fuck his stupid little brat-child.

Clinton should be working with Jimmy Carter for tsunami relief. The republi-heels should be left to defend themselves.

Bill adds credibility to this public menace. Of all the things he has done, this disturbs me the most.

try to kill someone, I mean think about it. If I were going in for surgery that affected my heart and my lungs and I heard this type of crap, I would probably be so mad my blood pressure would sky rocket and they couldn't perform the surgery or it would kill me.

This was not a nice statement, this was an attempt to take advantage of an illness. :argh: Poppy is egotistical and evil!

48. I swear to you you all ... not making this up ...
I posted something here on DU that said the exact same thing. It was a topic discussing whether the Clinton's had moved too much to the center and courted the right too often. I wish I had kept the post for posterity sake.

I made a crack that Bill Clinton was the son Bush Sr. never had. Too funny. You could see poor Bush Jr. vying, or rather, fighting for attention at Reagan's funeral, at least that's how I saw it. It appeared that Bush Sr. and Clinton had more of a rapport than the actual father and son team.

Bush-Jr-the-Idiot-King is the son Cheney never had.
