The Flim-Flam, Elmer Gantry SOB Has No Right.....
to destroy our Social Security system. And neither does the Republican Party, even if they are the present majority. The cult of personality has lied to get us into war and has cynically used fear as a political weapon. He has lied about everything since he came to power in 2001. Everything.

He believes there is nothing that can't be sold with the right PR or propaganda. Just as he is selling the idea of "democracy" in the Middle East, he is trying to sell the idea of "privatization" of Social Security in the same way. He has no "plan" on the table.

Much of America has been taken in by this flim-flam man who promised balanced budgets and huge taxcuts for his wealthy friends at the same time he was fighting a war based on lies. Like Elmer Gantry, he preaches his radical philosophy to the cult followers who worship blindly at his feet, never understanding they are destroying our nation.

and was constantly reminded of Shrub as I went from one of Elmer's disgusting, self-serving acts to the next.

A sad thing to think about is the fact that Elmer never learned and never seemed to regret anything he did. And his followers never pulled the wool out from over their eyes, either.

I'd like to think the American people will wake up to what Shrub and his cronies are doing to our country. But I felt like the '04 election was their opportunity... and they didn't then. I have my doubts that they will until perhaps when he's out of office.

Great post, great comparison.
