What kind of ratings are Liberal talk shows getting now? |
|
Air America is opening in new markets every week and guys like Ed Schultz seem to be doing extremely well. How do we stack up against the Right? Anyone have any stats on that? Thanks

1. No hard numbers, but if their spot load is any indication... |
|
On the local AAR station, the spot load is well managed -- much better than any other local commercial station which is almost always playing a commercial when you tune in.
What's more telling is the kind of spots being run. If most of the ads you hear are for snake-oil products and services (The Boston Group, impotence cures, hair-loss treatments, etc.), you know the book is bad. When nobody is listening, the station practically gives the spots away (or plays house ads and PSA's.)
AAR seems to be finally getting away from that and playing more spots for "real" products and services -- car dealers, restaurants, vacuum cleaners, etc. When you hear more of these types of ads, you generally have to assume the book is better and the spots sell for more money and, thus, attract the interest of legitimate businesses.

3. Can you sum them up? I don't have time to go look at it all. nt |
