Anyone else here tired of Franken having freepers on the show? |
|
Today was a repeat I think, but he had John Fund(ie) from the WSJ. He has his freeper buddy on 2-3 times a week. Last week, he had some puke from the American Enterprise Institute.
Gee, don't these pukes have enough media outlets already? Why does Franken have them on?
I agree with Malloy when he tells off freepers, I don't care what they think when I listen to AAR either. If I wanted to hear freep policy wonks, I can watch Fox News or CNN or MSRNC or any other channel.

6. Why would I mind him having them on? |
|
As long as he asks questions and debates them the way he should.
I don't listen to AAR very much. I take it Al's not taking the piss out of any of them, huh?

He should have to watch 500 hours of Hannity "debating" a weak DLC Democrat. He should use the same techniques, too, turning down the mike, etc.

The way Hannity "debates" is not just the delivery of his message, its an integral part of his philosophy. Using Fox's/Limbaughs philosophy, whoever controls the dial, whoever can shout the loudest, whoever can reduce the issue to the simplest sound-bite, is "right" by default.
I don't want to be like them. I want to kick their asses by being better than they are.

its also about having better ideas than them and then kicking their asses with that fact.
We will NEVER win a race to the bottom with these fuckers. They have an insurmountable lead.

It's amusing to see him calmly shut them down with no fancy tricks or "bulldogging". Although I'm starting think his ditto head friend really isn't a ditto head. He can't possibly be that stupid. Either way Al's show is pretty boring and predictable. But he's dealing more with the innards of the ideology than most on AAR who pretty much just call people names without knowing much about why those names might fit (or if they do know much they spend too much time with the names and a little less with the substance).
It'd be pretty cowardly to debunk the freepers without allowing them to come on the show. For instance, I for one liked the idea that Franken was broadcasting from the Conservative acitivism conference. Nothing like a little stomach acid for the belly of the beast. Perhaps he's not the right person for that task but at least he stands in the middle of the shit and calls it such. If Pap or Malloy had done the same that indigestion would have been a lot more intolerable for the neo-con culture warriors who had come to gather around their "princes of fools". But they weren't there. Al was.

10. I don't listen to him much |
|
because I usually only listen when I'm driving and I'm usually not at that time of day, but I was listening last week when he had the guy from AEI on and was talking about how he was a regular pundit on the program. My response was :wtf:
I often find him enjoyable to listen to, but WTF is it with the some of the guests he has on? After reading his two books, I really had higher hopes for him than that.

11. franken pulls his punches |
|
i've heard him comment on the way the rightwing lies, and the relentlessness of the lying....franken knows what we're up against, but....he probably afraid for his career, if he strays too far from 'comedy'....the nazipoos are killers, he thinks, and franken would rather not provoke them too much... AAR might be the bev harris of radio, i fear....buying bush time (the entire rightwing philosophy is to buy time, get days/weeks/months to go by without local media and then street revolts!.... meanwhile trying to make standing up to them something only a few brave souls dares to do.... BUTT! please remember; it's the nazipoos who are hyperventilating every time they close a door on the world...their 'power' is real only insofar as they maintain certain facades- notice that no one mentioned the number of american victims of the tsunami, or notice how easy the news mediawhores went on the shooting by the repuke in the hotel church....or the news from venezuela, or the number of US dead in iraq...truth is toxic to their very lives, they literally shit when they think it is OUT THERE (and we're tossing it around in their faces, like a frisbee...lol)

13. Oh, I think thats going a little too far. |

While I do think his show has gotten boring I doubt he's buddying up with the freepers. Since the election he really hasn't done much for me. He's taking the middle of the road approach, which might be fine some other time but we need fighters now... Malloy, Randi, and god help me but Jerry Springer is getting a few shots in there as well...

14. We can ask them questions. If they get all stage-managed events |
|
like going on Faux News... then there is no proof there ever was opposition (or any mistakes). We need to hash out some issues and see what sort of kool-aid they drink when they defend themselves.
It is a good plan.

|
It's free advertising for the freepers.
I think it's ok to have a somewhat reasonably minded Repuke on, but providing a megaphone for a whacked out freeper is not necessary.
It's like CNN giving a bunch of airtime to Falwell. sickening

18. I DON'T want to have a liberal echo chamber |
|
Do you want Air America to be a mirror-image of Limbaugh/Hannity/et al.? I sure as hell don't. I WANT to have our best and brightest take on their best and brightest, because we will win that fight every time.
One of the biggest problems (in addition to all the others) with right wing talk radio is the fact that they never bother to have an intelligent representative an opposing viewpoint on the show.
All they do is create straw-man caricatures of liberal beliefs and then take them apart for the benefit of their less than intellectually ambitious regular listeners. I don't want us to copy that formula.

him off balance.
Why not show the freaks for what they are...frauds. Franken did that pretty well today. I personally like his show. Granted, he has a softer touch than Malloy, but why can't they each have their own style and be interesting, intertaining, and informative. BTW, I really like Malloy, too.

I tried to listen Friday or Thursday around noon. Hartmann was bashing Clinton for getting NAFTA passed. I switched to Al, and he was doing his Limpballs "Minimum wage" riff for the 8th or 9th day in a row, then had on his dittiot friend on, then was going to have on Norm Ornstein from AEI.
I am ready for a 24/7 Stephanie/Mally/Randi/Bernie channel. Like you said, if I want to hear Rove propaganda, I can turn on any TV station or one of about 6 AM radio stations here in Chicago.
Edit:
There are also way too many postings here of "look what the freeptards said today". If I want to read that, I'll take some anti-vomit medicine and go over there.
