How to explain the intense divisions amongst people?
I'm sure there are many theories and explanations from many disciplines as to why people align themselves with a particular group and then go about building a concerted effort to intensify that division, as opposed to trying to bridge the differences.
Religion and politics take almost all of the cake nowadays.
It's irritating to me that the human race is so incapable of finding the means to use oh, I don't know, "Earth inhabitant-power" (however new-agey ridiculous that sounds) to combat the serious problems all of us are facing and will face more of, in the light of continued dramatic climatic changes. The Kyoto document is a fine example of this coming-together (of course which our country is not a part of), but there needs to be more.
Yeah, I know there is a systematic effort in place in America to increase divisions amongst people and spread disinformation.
But it still surprises me when I am discussing issues with a liberal friend and one issue, ONE simple disagreement can cause such a rift.
(Okay I know there are scientists out there who will give us that disciplines' explanation...the primitive brain parts. But DAMN!... when are our brains going to lose the Cave Man part?)

I really don't like the group of Vietnam protestors I know who tell me "been there, done that." And treat my anti-Iraq war stance as something not quite as "good" as theirs was. Sheesh. Does it always have to be a competition?

2. There is a solution... It just needs a vehicle... |

Logic and reason in the form of a question, is much more effective then logic and reason in the form of an answer.
The media, government, and now people don't question what they see because they believe it. How do you get someone to question what they believe in? You don't... but there is a hierarchy to their beliefs and they will question one belief to protect another.
