3. Santorum will tell you that cat food is good for old people. |
|
The dry food, expecially, keeps their dentures clean.

6. In the mid-80s I was told by a major petfood marketer |
|
that "silent" cat food sales - purchases made for human consumption - constituted 6-15% of total sales volume. ("Silent" because nobody ever talks about it.) Maybe he was pulling my leg, but I don't think so. After all, people buy "potted meat product" and I would never eat that stuff. (As another marketer told me, "It's a five-T product: tits, twats, toes, tails and tongues. They use everything but the squeal." Ewww.)
At least nowadays there are lots of "holistic" petfood brands that contain human-grade ingredients. But will Grandma be able to afford the good stuff? Or will Thanksgiving dinner turn into Fancy Feast?
Love your graphic, SoCalDem. I totally agree with Paul Krugman that the Dems should be screaming "cat food" at every opportunity.

I've seen homeless people buying cat food in the stores. I HIGHLY doubt they were buying it for pets or stray cats. It's not like they have money to spare.
So sad.
