Suggestion for emails to Senators and Reps regarding the
White House budget cuts:

Dear Senator,
In regards to the budget cuts desired by the White House and some Republican members of Congress, including among other things cutting the food stamp program, housing for the disabled, higher education for the disabled, vocational rehab training for the disabled, and job placement assistance for the disabled:

1) This is penny wise and pound foolish. Helping the disabled to return to the work force in whatever fashion possible for them is an investment returning future taxes and not increasing welfare needs,

2)I understand that you are Christian. Here is what Jesus himself said about these potential cuts, and what will come to those who vote for them:

Words of Jesus Matthew 25
Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in. I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sicka nd in prison and you did not look after me."
They also will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?"
He will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."
Then they will go away to eternal punishmint, but the righteous to eternal life.

I say, amen to that last line in Matthew 25.

Debbie J

1. well written....IMO, DUers should start adding BIBLICAL quotes to ALL our

emails, letters, faxes for OUR congress critters....

that will help bring OUR ISSUES to their attention, and especially in RED states...it's make the reTHUGlican congress PAY ATTENTION (if for no other reason, than FEAR of the CHRISTIANS, that reTHUGlicans have brainwashed into their KILLING madness).....

we must JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON...most DUers have ETHICS and morals, even if they are agnostic or atheists....to be heard...we've got to start playing the same games that a very small group of religiously-insane-fundies play...quote New Testament Bible...if you are a christian: SAY IT LOUD to your reTHUGlican congress rep....bring it on....

I am a Christian (Catholic), and have never used that to push a political issue...but it appears that now I have to....as of TODAY, every fax/email/letter to my reTHUGlican congress critters will start with "I am a Christian Voter".....and ends with a BIBLICAL QUOTE....

if it gets what OUR country needs, I'm all for it...we REAL Christians certainly need to STAND UP against the fundie-religiously-insane WAR-congress, taking us over a cliff....

2. Here's what I told * last month about the budget...
"We need to balance the budget - no denying that fact. However, it cannot be done on the backs of working poor and middle-income Americans. A better solution would be to eliminate the tax cuts, which haven't "trickled down" to help those of us who don't make huge salaries. If you truly are a Christian, please go beyond going to church and telling us that you pray and read the Bible. Show us by your actions how a good Christian behaves. What would Jesus do?"

Needless to say, I didn't get a response. Guess I'm probably not going to get an invite to one of his "town hall" meetings either.

BTW, your letter is excellent.
