I am an American
I wake up in the morning free
to think and say anything
Inside of me.

I am an American
I love what we are
I care about what happens
to the stripes and the stars

I love America
Land I remember
with pride and hope and caring
never surrender
The memory of us
is sharing.

I am an American
Unique in all the universe
I care about this country

"Nothing's gonna change my world
nothing's gonna change my world"

It draws me on and on across the universe..........

2. A pretty nice march
All the armies of the world can sing it very easily. The text is clear, simple
and very useful, it is enough to change the name of the country and it works.

3. I like it
but the last stanza must be tied into the first group to have any real meaning

the universe doesn't have a flag

"Democracy"

It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming through a crack in the wall;
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the sorrow in the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of God in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

<snip>

It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and of the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here they got the spiritual thirst.
It's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

<snip>

5. Nice
Hopefully one day, we will be proud to be Americans again... when our legacy will be more than the death and horror we've unleashed upon the world.

Peace

6. Hey listenup America
When you wake up; don't say anything against the war in Iraq
Do you care that EVERY other nation on the planet disagrees with you
That America draws contempt and unease
Bush had the world in the palm of his hand after the horrors or 911.
and brushed away the hand of friendship
