anyone want to HELP with the protests and cut Tom DELAY's shiavo crap out?
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 07:56 PM by diamond14

we do need a LOT of help, as protests are ONGOING FOR THIS WHOLE WEEKEND....there will be MORE protests on this evening, and tomorrow...and sadly, even DU is doing a BAD JOB of covering the protests...

it's true that LOTS of papers/TV reporters and radio LOOK AT DU, and what do they see: 50-100 stories that TOM DELAY wants US to focus on, while very little about the protests...

WE ARE A SOURCE OF NEWS for MSM...so lets get after POSTING THE NEWS here about the PROTESTS (all you terry shiavo activists will have plenty of time to post your stories AFTER this weekends protests - WE protestors are fighting for REAL live humans right NOW - we're fighing for PEACE)...

Here's what needs to be done by the BLOGGERS right NOW !

1. Post all news reports and photos about the Pro-Peace rallies world wide...

2. DO NOT post any more shiavo stories, polls, or opinions until next week, so the activists FIGHTING FOR REAL HUMAN BEINGS can have a bit of room here...have the patience to wait until next week PLEASE...

Please quit responding to the tom delay/shiavo stories and let them die off for a while...it really would be merciful...come join the PRO-PEACE activists who are trying to SAVE THE WORLD....

3. let us know of any Pro-Peace MSM polls and info where WE can respond..

4. bump up any photos and stories on MSM web sites, so it'll float up higher to the top...and LET US ALL KNOW, so we can bump too...

PLEASE...add any more ideas for US to get out the news of the PRO-PEACE events....we need to work together NOW, like the real news organization that we are...get busy to get the word out...THANKS...

to the point of "how can such a good and upstanding man that would fight for Terri have ethics problems?"

16. 1,500 Peace Marchers counted at Loring Park, Minneapolis, MN
and 2 police cars for traffic control.

Chicago had 1,000 protesters and at least 3 times as many police. I'm being conservative in my estimate.

Pictures!

Anti-war activists demonstrate on second anniversary of invasion of Iraq
Associated Press
March 20, 2005

NEW YORK — Anti-war activists marched in the streets of American cities big and small Saturday, stopping traffic and lying down alongside flag-draped cardboard coffins to mark the second anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq. "This country was founded by acts of civil disobedience,'' said David McReynolds, 75, of New York, as he marched along 42nd Street. "We have an obligation to make our resistance public and to say as clearly as we can that the war is illegal.''

Across Europe, tens of thousands of protesters also packed streets and public parks to protest the war. In England, 45,000 people marched from London's Hyde Park past the American Embassy to Trafalgar Square, while an estimated 15,000 people — some carrying signs reading "Murderer Bush, get out'' — marched in Turkey.

More than 1,000 people also marched through Pittsburgh, including many who initially supported the war but have since changed their minds, said Tim Vining, a protest organizer. "I think people realize the tide is turning'' and that to protest isn't seen as unpatriotic, he said.

About 300 demonstrators also gathered in front of the New Mexico National Guard Armory in Albuquerque, where pieces of paper featuring the names and faces of dead American soldiers were glued to the sidewalk. "That's a whole tsunami worth of people, vanished,'' said Maureen Small, an Albuquerque physician.

9. 'Area residents in anti-war protests'
news from my neck of the woods

Area residents in anti-war protests

ONEONTA — About 60 area residents on Saturday participated in anti-war protests in Oneonta and New York City.

The protests marked the one-year anniversary of the United States-led invasion of Iraq.

-snip-

About 200 anti-war protesters gathered in Buffalo Saturday afternoon to rally against the U.S. conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

City residents lined Lafayette Square in the rain for the protest sponsored by the Western New York Peace Center, with dozens of signs admonishing the Bush administration for America's "War on Terror."

Merle Showers, 59, a United Methodist minister from Buffalo, said his concern is so many people dying - Iraqis, Palestinians, Israelis, U.S. soldiers - "when really we could be doing this with international cooperation. I want us to do this in a peaceful way rather than with guns, and bombs and rockets."

Buffalo police reported no counter-demonstrations Saturday.

IMO, some of this shiavo stuff is DELIBERATELY being spewed all over at DU, because rove KNOWS we're having BIG Pro-Peace rallies...and now that BLOGGERS are actually in the White House...it's critical to influence the chat boards.....many of the terry shiavo chatters are stinkers operating just barely within the rules to keep from getting tombstoned....

LETS fight for PEACE this weekend...

17. I'm Sorry, But There ARE Humongous Issues
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 10:06 PM by UTUSN
beCAUSE of the SCIAVO case: A ROGUE cabal of wingnut/Fundie radicals hijacking the government, misapplying democratic principles, and losing MORE of our rights to A-hole tyrants.

I agree that the specific particulars of the individual case do NOT need re-hashing, and yes, there are topics of "more" widespread importance and impact than others, but this is happening NOW.

It would seem that we can address ALL of the issues that move us. And, frankly, there were a million protesters a year or two ago in this place or that, for all that the Shrubbites and the media paid attention to. As somebody posted, perhaps the OUTRAGEOUS behavior of the wingnut scoundrels in the SCHIAVO case will stir a backlash against them in other areas as well. I don't think an internet discussion board can be orchestrated to suit anybody. It's like, "My issue is more important than yours, so you have to wait your turn to talk, which might just never happen."

18. give us just TWO days to save American Soldiers lives, and bring

PEACE to the world....

shiavo is creating a MAJOR BLACKOUT on DU for the Pro-Peace activists, INCLUDING the Gold Star Mothers for PEACE, the military families of the DEAD soldiers (who deserve at least a little bit of respect)...and the SHUTTING down of military recruitment centers all across America WHICH SHOULD BE SEEN, lots of people in NYC are getting arrested for 'disrupting military recruitment', and the BIG protest outside the gates of Ft. Bragg ....and nobody seems to know anything about that...

right NOW, Congress is not there....it's weekend, and they don't work on weekends....the chatting about shiavo can be continued on Tuesday...there's plenty of time, it's been going on for 15 YEARS...

the MAJOR event this weekend is PEACE....and we all have an obligation to help....why don't you HELP get the word out on DU MAIN STREAM MEDIA?????

19. I Hear You & Have Always Been with You, But NEWS: They ARE "working"
today and tomorrow and Shrub is on his way back to sign the SCHIAVO bill on Monday, and to use this as a major propaganda coup. That's the point, they are PULLING this stage of their anti-democracy NOW.

20. let bush* and his minions make asses of themselves.....

and then next week, we'll bring up the REAL HYPOCRISY of bush* and tom delay and bill frist (who has DIAGNOSED a medical condition based on a homemade video from 1991)....

they all let the BLACK BABY from Houston, Texas (tom delay's district) be taken off a respirator and DIE, while the bushite COURT ordered it done AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE MOTHER.....

there's plenty of problems with what bushites are doing....and you may have noticed, that it so weird, the Democrats are not even commenting on it.....and IMO, that's a good approach...after the bush* CRAZIES are done, there will still be time....bush* CRAZIES will go on and on next week, when they are actually supposed to be WORKING, and at some point, even RED state people with sick and dying relatives are going to be FREAKED out by all this....

I hope these idiots bring terri shiavo into OUR Nation's Capitol and roll her right into Congress to testify....with any luck, the poor woman will pass away before they can stuff another feeding tube into her DEAD body (which has already happened FOUR times)...
