FAYETTEVILLE NC, Peace Protest Over 5,000
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 02:17 AM by rigel99
Ok, so the MSNBC and ABC reports of peace protesters was so lame...
it was like the same guy wrote it from the cushion of his little office chair in his house and didn't even go out and get into the crowds..

I JUST GOT BACK FROM Fayetteville, NC. The organizing organization passed out white cards, the # from that was 4800 and not everyone signed it.. so I'm guessing easily over 5,000

but the even better news...
the pro-war supporters were about 70 maximum....
and the police, about 500 (way over needed # of cops).

THE FUNNIEST thing is that they kept the pro-war guys way
up on the grass above the park, and made us, the peace protesters go thru a body search.... funny... isn't that backwards from how it should be? I saw a few rebel flags and lots of leather..... scareeeeeeeee

ok, and this french woman flew all the way from France to come to this particular demonstration as she knew lots of military families would speak. She actually said the war supporters looked 'funny'.. her words were that you could see in their eyes they are not quite right... I explained to her the words redneck and 'inbred' and then it made sense to her.... I said, you know like extremely rural parts of france.. and then she just smiled .....

either way, it was such a great day, the speakers were all excellent and the participants were very calm and very down to earth / nice people, easy to make friends there....

WHAT A TOTALLY AWESOME DEMONSTRATION.... thanks to all who attended and organized Fayetteville!....

wanted to start being the media... one more thing, they had these really moving handmade square cloths that had a piece of tape explaining who had died... it included children, families, babies, soliders of all ages and from all states you can imagine.. it took a while for me to realize these cloths hanging on a clothes line and blowing in the breeze represented actual people.. the 2 year old and newborn baby ones were hardest to fathom... real people, real deaths.... it's sometimes hard to grasp the insanity of it all....
I wanted to cry, but my tears did not seem heavy enough or honorable enough to honor these deaths... I am considering a more appropriate gift. Putting the video I shot of these images online.. that's an idea I had....

5,000 versus 50.... what do you think that means against shifting tide in support for the war???????

5. I was there - many of the speaches were just devestating.
The best way to protest this war is to get behind these anti-war groups started by soldiers and families of fallen soldiers.

These people can never be accused of being dirty hippies and people HAVE to listen to them.

My suggestion is call one of these groups up and offer time, money, anything you can.
