It's too good to pass up:

Jerry Falwell: He thinks God died, and he's in charge.

Tom DeLay: He thinks God died, and he's in charge.

GWB*: He uses God to be in charge.

I think that they are all guilty of worshiping false gods: POWER

1. Exactly!!
An awful lot of people think that their religion makes them God - not seeing too much humility from the politically activated RW religious groups.

It's as though they think they have been deputized to do the work of an angry, hateful, resentful God.

2. Religion
is like government in resting upon an assumed authority. Authority is the enemy, and the answer to authority is not more authority, or different authority. I don't have time for the old paradigm.

3. That's exactly what I meant!

I grew up hearing "so-and-so thinks God died and left him in charge" as a denunciation of arrogant and illegitimate authority, and worshipping the false god of absolute power, especially when someone tries to pass himself off as "doing God's will."
