The Republicans are not worthy of their name. |
They don't deserve to call themselves anything having to do with the republic or democracy. They're political hacks with no principles worthy of a great nation. They should be called the Hacks.

1. Sounds good to me. And instead of the elephant, perhaps their |
party symbol could be the weasel? (No offense to any weasel lovers).

2. ...and don't forget they call themselves "conservatives"... |
what a joke they are.
The thing that I find the most hypocritical is the SUGGESTION that *they* are guided by some set of 'values'.

3. We are living in the worst of political times ever suffered by |
Americans. The Republicans have driven the practice of politics down to unimaginable low levels of conduct. They are using this unfortunate situation for political gain. Each day I say to myself, "they have gone as far as anyone could go into political depravity". Yet, almost daily, I see that I was wrong. How sick and depraved is the situation going to have to be before the majority of Americans just say "stop. we've had enough of this".

6. I think the 1850s were arguably worse. But not much. |
And we all know how they ended.

7. Interesting. I believe that there are some profound philosophical |
similarities between the politics of the 1850's, leading up to the Civil War and the politics of the past 35 years in the U.S. leading up to the probable collapse of the American economy and perhaps even the political structures that have been in place since 1776. You will note that it was the irrational, right wingers of the South that led the fatal charges in both periods.
The fatal consequences of fundamentalists thinking need to be shown for what they are, disastrous, suicidal and fanatical ideas that all point toward death.

5. I think their party name should be changed to Regressive |
They are actively trying to turn the word 'progressive' into something negative. Why not turn the tables and call them 'regressive' since they seem intent on returning to the 19th century?
