"They should all be hooked up to lie detectors"...Randi, I love ya. |
|
This was said on the show today with regard to senators taking the floor. They should all be hooked up to lie detectors and/or under oath for every stinking thing they try to put past us.

And yes we should. I mean, if they have our (We the People's) best interests at heart, it should be no big deal. :)

3. I totally agree, however |
|
don't you have to have a heart and a soul and a conscience for a lie detector to work? tom delay would zip right through such an undertaking along with bush, cheney, frist and that ever so dapper scott mclellan.

4. That says a great deal... |

... about the level of public trust today, doesn't it?
Most people realize that the largest percentage of politicians have a bit of the weasel in them--they don't want to say anything controversial for fear of alienating some particular voting bloc.
But, what's been happening since the so-called Gingrich revolution, political speech has undergone an abrupt turn for the worse (I have a feeling that his not-so-secret lists of buzzwords have accelerated that process). When we have conniving assholes like Phil Gramm saying, "in a few years, we'll be hunting down Democrats with dogs," it's gone way overboard.
Manipulating demagogues like Frist and DeLay, however, are like a return to the days of McCarthy.
Where is Ed Murrow when you need him? *sigh*

6. I always think back to the Daily Show debate between Dubya the president |
|
and Dubya the governor, and how everything that was said was in direct contrast. Simply amazing.
