In all my years reading DU, I have never seen general discussion degrade so much for such a long period of time. I bite my tongue, thinking this repuke bait issue would die down after a few days, but I was wrong. It never ends. In order to save GD without stifling discussion, I propose Terri and her fundie buddies get their very own forum. It would only be temporary, gone after she is finally allowed to die in peace.

Did it occur to you that the reason there is such intense discussion of the Schiavo case is that it has far-reaching repercussions on a number of fronts, from individual rights to states' rights to the power of the judiciary?
This is a very important matter, and is far, far beyond simple "repuke baiting."

But clogging GD up with this repetitive information is ridiculous. How many more personal story, arguments over feeding tube, and brain function threads are there going to be? GD: Politics was created with much less congestion taking place.

You might as well stand on the beach and try to shout back a hurricane. The discussion is going to go at the pace and volume that it chooses; you can't fight that, so you might as well jump in and debate with the rest of us.
