The War on Michael Schiavo/The War Over Life--conservative blog
this person makes excellent points! The 4-paragraph rule doesn't do this article justice, check it out:

The War on Michael Schiavo/The War Over Life
by Nicholas Stix
26 March 2005

Many of the people who have claimed to care so much about Terri Schiavo are motivated less by concern for her, than by their hatred for her husband, Michael.

Do you hate Michael Schiavo?

Many of the people who have claimed to care so much about Terri Schiavo are motivated less by concern for her, than by their hatred for her husband, Michael.

Well, what about legal principles? As liberal Harvard University constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe observed on the Lehrer Report in a brilliant stalemate of a debate with Jay Alan Sekulow of the religious conservative American Center for Law and Justice on Monday, there are hundreds of cases in America identical to the Schiavo case, but without Congress getting involved, and seeking to violate the principles of our legal system (such as crafting a law intended to apply to only one person, or seeking to usurp the judicial branch).

So that we’re clear, I do not support removing Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube. But I also do not condemn Mrs. Schiavo’s husband for his decision.

On a thread at the Free Republic message board discussing a particularly libelous rant against Mr. Schiavo, the psychotic rantings of the FReepers dominating the thread elicited a rational response from FReeper HMFIC: . . .

http://www.intellectualconservative.com/article4235.html

He goes on to refute, point by point, a long list of erroneous and condemnatory accusations and ill-informed judgments against Michael Schiavo.

1. They care more about spinning HATRED then PEACE!
I feel horribly sad for Michael. And his detractors love spinning hatred as their base for their lost-sheeplike mentality. We've all given them way too much attention, as they are psychotic idiots and don't deserve more air time.

They should be spinning peace, love, especially on this weekend. And promoting some of those Ten Commandments like:

THOU SHALL NOT KILL - trying to kill the guy from the internet to getting guns. They're sick - whackos.

I say we give them no more attention. We're enabling them.

2. One More Misconception Here...
The need to pull the tube is rarely an individual's choice, but one that is recommended by doctors and others. Having been in a similar situation, I was carefully informed and told of the options by the doctors and hospice professionals who deal with these cases on a regular basis.

I'm certain that if there's any sign of discomfort, RPNs are standing by with morphine or other sedatives to ease the pain and gently wind things down. It's very quiet, very peaceful and, above all, very humane.

I admire Michael Schiavo for how he's handled this situation and for becoming a target of one of the most malicious slander campaigns I have ever witnessed. My hopes are he has lawyers ready to file a ton of defamation and libel suits against the telepundits who have outright lied about this man and his intentions in following through with his duty as his wife's protector and guardian.

Tribe spoke eloquently...and I wish he had spoken up in other places. Also, Jonathan Turley had a great interview on the topic...going down a laundry list of major constitutional conflicts this case created and the presendent it could set.

Lastly, I sure hope someone comes out and starts some investigation into this hack lawyer Gibbs who has run roughshod over both the legal system and Mr. Schaivo in his zealous game of self promotion and legal bafoonery. How ironic Repugnicans scream about trial lawyers and their frivolous suits and look the other way when they've got a loose cannon on their deck.
