If we have to find a silver lining in the whole strange situation it's this:
I now know what my loved ones would want in that situation, and I plan to make more people aware of what *my* wishes would be. I think she has broken the ice for people to have a discussion about "If I'm ever brain dead on life support..." A whole generation now can possibly avoid this sort of confusion and indignity in the future. I hope that is her legacy.

My fiance and I finally got off our buts and signed Living Wills, and clarified what we meant by various terms (I was actually a bit surprised by how quickly he wanted intervention halted).
Though it usually doesn't generate a circus, this sort of things rips families apart all the time according to my medical school profs. Is it overly simplistic for me to think some of this could potentially be sorted out when a person gets a license or state ID, much like people are asked if they want to be organ donors?
