Randi Rhodes was just debating (??) with Alan Keyes (rep)... |
|
...but Randi said that 600 children have been lost during Jeb Bush's governorship. I only caught part of the argument. Can anyone fill me in?

the Department of Children and Family Services have lost track of something like 527 children in the system. Some have turned up dead.
I didn't hear the whole thing myself, but that's what I got from it.

the department of children and families--protective services division in florida has always been woefully understaffed and what staff there is is overworked and underpaid. turnover very high. under jeb in his first 4 years it just got worse. he and the repug legislature wanted to privatize the dept and so would not do anything to improve workload/staff ratios and pay grades.
hell, dog catchers working in florida make more than the degreed social workers hired to do protective services.
the most famous case occured a few years ago. young Rilya Wilson was found to have been gone from her foster home for several years. during that time dcf worker had been falsifying visitation reports etc.
THe little girl was poor and black so of course no national outrage like when little blonde headed girls disappear.
Rilya: "Remember I love you always" is now presumed to be dead although no body has ever been found. the foster parent is being prosecuted for murder.

4. Keyes has the sound of intelligencia about him...but is an idiot |
|
He is all smoke and mirrors. Nobody has a clue WTF he is ever talking about so the low-life, under-rock dwelling followers just assume he is sooooooooooo smart because he sounds it.

6. Randi tore keyes a new a-hole |
|
The next part, keyes tried to blow smoke up the public but by citing sections of the Florida Constitution that don't exist. Randi was truly a master. She had pulled up the sections he was citing (I'm sure she was sensing the hyperbole going on cause it just didn't sound like something in the FL constitution, I was doing the same thing pulling the sections, but before I could send it over to her she was already quoting the sections) and read word for word what he was citing that had nothing at all to do with what he was saying, that is the gov. has the authority to take custody TS.
That's the way to do these folks in facts, preparation, and balls to do it.
Thanks big time Randi.......
