Video - BBC: Pope needs feeding tube in stomach - 3/29

He already has a tube for breathing and is being given intravenous nourishment. "Artificial means are already being used to help him continue to live". Now, his doctors want to insert a feeding tube in his stomach due to trouble swallowing.

1. I thought there was a report recently that he was giving himself up to God
I.e. he was going to forgo artificial means of survival. :shrug:

2. This is exactly what is going on when people get ready to die.
They stop eating and eventually, in a short time, drinking. OMG. They are going to put this poor old man through Hell. Let him die naturally already.

the Pope and Jerry Falwell, get in a position where they need a feeding tube, respirator, and dialysis, hooked up to them. And the only way that medication could be given would be by sticking a tube up their ass, a really big tube.

9. Is there a difference between a ventilator and respirator?
The Fallwell stories use the term ventilator. I have usually heard respirator. Does anyone know if there is a difference? This could come up in the pope story too.
