Dear BuzzFlash:

Indeed this nation is "a democracy not a church." That's one mighty important line tucked in your editorial on Terri Schiavo today. The lunatics running the show seem determined to repeat that lie into New Reality ... that this nation was founded on Christianity.

The run-down of hypocrisies in the Schiavo case is impressive. I hadn't heard about the friars.

This line: "of course, Bush loved it when he set the record for executing people in Texas,"
reminded me of something my mom noted on television. Bush spoke about Terri and inappropriately smiled. When he first took office he did that a lot. He really does have some kind of warped jones for death. Remember his mocking of Karla Faye Tucker as she pleaded for her life?

His handlers have probably tried to coach him into looking "grave" and "presidential," but how can you coach someone who is that much of a freak? You can't, but you *can* cover for him. Which is what then happened.

My mom made careful note to watch the clip when the story repeated. The smile had been edited out.

I assume that what actually happened was that they used footage from a different speech. You know, he does give the same speeches more than once.

It'd be way more work to 'edit out' a smile than to simply use different footage. They have him on tape saying the same exact things several times. If one take looks bad, why not use another? It's the obvious thing to do. If JK were president, and did some stupid minor facial expression in one take, the one that they would use would certainly be a different one.

4. Other DUers tried to tell me the Karla

Tucker story with Bush smirking was fake. But I saw it with my own eyes on television back before Smirk ran for president in 2000. I saw the video. He made the hand motions of choking someone and laughed at her fate. It was sickening. This from a man, a self-avowed Christian (because he doesn't live as a Christian), who was running for the highest office in the land.
That video, like so much in Bush's background, has been scrubbed. Just like his military records ("lost"), Laura's auto accident -- resulting in her friend's death --, Bush's business fiascos, and the resulting investigations, (abruptly halted by Daddy - when president), and any other embarrassing, and contrary, past political speeches on video.
Gone. "Disappeared" by Papa and pals.
The video is real. It happened. So, pay no attention to Bush and his "culture of life" pious pronouncements. It's phony. It's fake. It's written by Rove.
The real Bush was on that video.
And it was ugly.

6. What video? Remark made in back of a limo to Tucker Carlson.

The Carla Fay mocking incident took place while Bush was being interviewed by Tucker Carlson for a Vanity Fair profile. It was apparently so shocking that even Carlson was offended. Carlson said the exchange toook place in the back of a limo, IIRC.

However, there is plenty of video out there of his inappropriate smiles, his sudden animation and pleasure, whenever he speaks about death.

The most obvious one, I think, came in one of the Gore debates, when the question was about hate crimes, and mention was made of Robert Byrd, the black man who was dragged to death. Bush said, referring to the killers, "they got the death penalty, you can't kill them deader" (or kill them twice, something along those lines) and then he smiled and laughed out loud and stood there beaming, happy and proud at his big joke about executions.

I know the Tucker Carlson story. But the video exists. I saw it. Others did, too. Well, it used to exist. It hasn't been shown in years. My guess is that it was destroyed.
You'll just have to trust me on this. I saw the video.
I didn't hear the Carlson story until last year.

... the BBC video of the Asshole primping, jiggling, smirking, pumping his fist and crowing "Feels good!" Ñ prior to announcing the start of the Iraq invasion.

Just the mental picture of it makes me feel sick.
