WOW. Lou Dobbs is pouncing upon propaganda this evening!! |
|
*LOL*. He had some guy on, who apparently is popular at and a fan of Faux News, and pinned the guy to the wall. It was awesome!!! :bounce:
Moreover, Lou is repeatedly pointing out that the immigration policies are based upon big corporate exploitation!!!
:bounce:
It is SO SATISFYING to witness, just once, a progressive and fact-based show on CM!!!

|
I know Lou is supposed to be a Pub, but I watch him EVERY NIGHT, and I find that I agree with him almost ALL the time!
He really does want the best for America, and doesn't seem to care what side his guest is on. If he thinks he's wrong, he tells them!
Keep it up LOU!

|
and different financial impacts on it and the country. I think most people presumed him to be a Pub because he always admitted to being a Capitalist.

9. Fascinating. Ya' think, perhaps, that, there are inconsistent perceptions |
|
of how "capitalism" is supposed to work?
I mean, are there those who view "capitalism" as predatory "rule of the jungle" (e.g. NO RULES) and others who view "capitalism" as a structure requiring rules to work?
Hmmmm.

The problem, as I see it, is that the current admin. views Capitalism as ruling supreme, and guys like Lou view it as a structure that needs to be somewhat controlled to keep greed under control.

19. So, "freedom" must be protected, whether human or capital,... |
|
,...and the only way to PROTECT the "freedom" to engage, to participate,...to have a "choice" in participation,...is by creating rules consistently applied and enforced by ALL participants.
Yes? :bounce:
We cannot have any form of "freedom" without everyone being forced to play by the same rules.
AND,...what is this administration and its ILK doing,...attacking that body which enforces "the rules".
Go figure!!! They are a buncha' freakin' dictators!!!!

And ShrubCo is trying to rule as a dictator, but I suspect he's reached too far recently, and what he thought was his STRONG support is backing off.
Wonder if he's calling Karl begging for help?

27. Shrub thought because he was reelected the majority of Am. told |
|
him they agreed with him, and he can do what he wants.
He decided to gut SS as his prine issue. I don't think he realized how many people from all levels of income don't want anyone messing with that program!
Then he decides the Schiavo case will not only help him, but good bro to. He calls his buds in the Senate and the House ans says let's go for it! Oops! None of them realized that most Americans don't want the Feds messing in their private lives!
I use the phrase over-reaching because that's exactly what I think the Pubs have done, and I suspect they're all asking the guy they believe is the miracle worker with politics (Karl) to get 'em out of this mess.
Ya know, I rarely listen to Boortz who is very popular here in Ga, but I remember, one day when I was a caaptive audience in my car, he said "You just watch folks. The Republicans will over-reach, like they always do, because they think when they control everything they can just do that. It will bring them down, just like it always does."
I never agree with Boortz, but I did that time, and I think we're seeing that happen now.

12. He is a fiscal conservative, a devout Roman Catholic, and... |
|
...a member in good standing of Opus Dei (shudder). He left CNN awhile back because of snarky remarks about his religion. There were apologies made, it is likely some cash changed hands, and he came back. His wife carries a pistol, and she carried one into National Airport not too long after 911 and was arrested--caused a minor scandal (she 'forgot' to leave it at home). He seems to adore Kitty Pilgrim.
Yes, he is a Pub, but he is a CLASSIC Pub, not a NEW Pub, or a DIET Pub, or even a Pub Lite. He is old school GOP. I found those guys a bit fearful (afraid of change, preferring tradition, slow to move, slow to help the needy) but not deliberately, joyously mean, like the current crowd. He's one of those oldtimers, not one of these insane neocrazies that hijacked their party.

When the old style Repugs wake up and discover what is going on with with the neo-cons and the fundies in the Republican party they are probably scared witless.

13. Lou's an old style conservative, very anti Neocon |
|
He's anti debt, anti outsourcing, anti illegal immigration, and I think he's pretty much against the Bush war policy as well. Although if you get into it he'd probably be pretty right wing on some issues, the guy is still good because he has no loyalty to the masters. He holds the Bush administration's feet to the fire and has no shame about it, either.
I think that overall he's one of the good guys.

|
If Dems had stayed with his positions instead of trying to pander a la Bush right now we'd have fired up the 40% who didn't bother to vote in the last election. Instead we ended up with a stolen election again (it will come out about Ohio soon) and an administration that thinks it can do no wrong.
The scandal behind the H1B visas is only being covered by Lou...no one else !

22. Democrats really should abandon the wide open free trade platform |
|
It's not that trade is a completely bad thing, but the way that NAFTA, WTO, etc. have been enacted and enforced has been horrible for American workers and horrible for human rights.
And Democrats also need to take a stronger stance on immigration. I'm not against immigration, it's just that I think it should be done legally. We need to secure our borders and then we can incrase the number of people that we allow into the country LEGALLY. That way they will have the same rights as everybody else and we don't be debating bullshit questions like: should we be giving immigrants drivers licenses?
These are the kinds of issues that the GOP is horrible on and that we need to emphasize more. We need to stop letting them frame the debate. We need to have strong stances on populist economic issues so that when the GOP starts running their mouth off about "family values", they look like the ones out of touch because they have no solutions for healthcare, jobs, and education.

39. Bull---- ! The title of his book should make you at least think twice |
|
Exporting America: Why Corporate Greed Is Shipping American Jobs Overseas
Globalization apologists, like Fareed Zakaria, Thomas Friedman, George Bush, and sadly Bill Clinton, Robert Reich and company... have all contributed to the destruction of the American middle class and the huge job losses that corporate multinationals feed upon !
This globalization fantasy is behind the Disneyeque 'it's a small world after all' Bush outsourcing/free-market crap that is used to justify the demise of this once-great economy. Kevin Phillips' Wealth and Democracy spells it out: the concentration of wealth brought about by globalizers will destroy America.
Lou Dobbs is a capitalist but he knows what is wrong with the system and isn't afraid to speak up about it like the rest of the neocon crowd surrounding Bush !

He virtually single handedly kept outsourcing on the table with focus segments every day when no-one was talking about it at all.
