The RNC and Bush Campaign Need Not Look Further Than DU |
|
..with all these candidate bashing threads (especially against dean) who needs enemies? (or opposition)... some of you guys ought to seriously consider working for 'the dark side' come early next year... many of you here already play like rove's little toys...

There is bashing, and there is discussing. We need a candidate who can take the heat, so it's okay, on the one hand. On the other, it should be reasonable and helpful in the long run. The chimp cartel will bring on all kinds of dirty tricks during the general campaign.

not you in particular but the people who make a habit of trying to paint discussion of candidates as doing rove's work. no offense to DUers but i haven't seen any credible complaint listed here that wasn't spawned by some other media. it's not like we're making things up you know.
personaly, i want to see the warts now, before rove and the newsees shine a brighter spotlight on them a year from now when it's too late to change my mind.

but plays one as Governor...c'mon nsma, even you must admit he's always been, at the very least, centrist in his actions as governor. He's pushed some left causes and values, then swung to the center like Clinton...I guess trying to look very Republicany...
So, maybe he should be called Republican while he acts like it.

You're right about the bashers-they're certainly helping Rove formulate some talking points against Dean and Kerry.
I'm dismayed at the lack of perspective on the part of the bashers. You may disagree with one position of a candidate, and therefore dismiss them entirely. It's like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

we're allowed to do this - freedom of speech; debate. We're supposed to do this. When it comes down to it I believe and I hope we will all be Democrats and pull together. Even the Deanies.

As I recall, BushI was calling Reagan's ideas "voodoo economics" during the primaries and ended up on the ticket after the primaries.
Personally, I wish Rove would wander over here so he could get an earful of what I think of him.

How many fucking threads are ABOUT the candidate bashing, as opposed to candidate bashing???
You start a thread with the title "The RNC and Bush Campaign Need Not Look Further Than DU" and you're the one bitching about how DU might be perceived?!?!
It's like "Democrats Hate America" as your thread title, even though your point is that Repukes will say that. Sure they'll say it...they'll come to DU and see "Democrats Hate America"
If you dont like candidate bashing you should leave DU, because Skinner has already said that he won't shut down inter-candidate discussion, no matter the bullshit

6. That is for sure what is going on. |
|
Everytime I say it I get attacked about it. It is going on in a big way, and it is very sad. I think people recognize what is happening, but won't admit it. It is hurting our party a great deal.
Before you say anything to me, my husband and I still like 3 of the candidates. Maybe more, if necessary.

If you still like three of the candidates, that must mean you don't like six of them. That's your right, of course. Maybe your duty. But I hope you'll allow me to not like one of them. The other 8 are fine in my book. But that one...

17. Well, gee now, I did not say that. |
|
You are just doing a really good job of putting words in my mouth, with all due respect.
I could explain what I mean, but it would not matter here. We financially do support two candidates right now. There are two we won't vote for, and I don't have to tell you why.
What an ugly place this has become. Oh, I know, why don't I take my toys and go home. No, but it is sad when the line between hatefulness and honest criticism is so blurred.
Now do I get called names?

for bashing.
One poster was advocating some kind of "toughening up" via negativity. I hope they don't "toughen up" their kids or dogs that way.
I've helped out on a political campaign or two - I found (even when we were doing it) that the negative crap comes out of desperation. "People don't like your candidate or his message? Well it must be because he can't be heard! Let's bash the guy who is stealing OUR support/money/respect..."
You want to see who thinks they're in trouble, or behind? Look at who is hurling mud.
The problem is that negativity actually works on the stump and on the airwaves. The problem is as soon as you knock off the guy(s) in front of you, you become the new favorite target.
Ugh.
Actually, I'm just jealous. I happen to like all of the top tier candidates, so I have no one to bash. Silly me, I just want to elect a Democratic president.

If there's one thing I'm more sick of than people whining like children about their candidates, it's people like THIS whining about people bashing candidates.
Give it a fucking rest and join the discussion. If people act like children, ignore them.

...Rove loves Democrats who refuse to confront the reality that some candidates are right-leaning stooges for the Neocons.
- Rove would prefer that you vote 'republican-lite' than for a more liberal candidate that actually represents the base of the party.

25. Rove wants us to attack DEMS on issues where he cannot... |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 01:10 PM by Dr Fate
For instance- he cannot attack Dean or Kusinich for never serving during Vietnam- because it would open up questions about Bush's lack of service- BUT perhaps Kerry and Clark supporters will do it for him!!!
On the otherhand, Rove cannot attack Kerry or Holy Joe as being "pro-war" without being hypocritical- so he relies on the candidates who claim they would have voted differently to do it for him...
it matters not to Rove whether the issues are in line with Bush or not- all that matters is that there is plenty of DEM infighting to weaken our overall chances- it keeps Bush from having to "look bad" by attacking DEMS...
Rove wishes to thank you all for making his job that much easier!!!
