3. Franken not doing his best, but making good points.
Coverage of Gore - Internet, Love Canal distortions. Keeps slamming Fox, Regnery publishing.

Over now. Short segment.

9. He did alright but
It is very hard to get your point out when the host of the show interrupts and changes the question. By my count Al tried to address four questions and Dobbs cut him off three times and then on the last one he mischaracterized Al’s answer. Al was not allowed to make his point. It looks to me like Dobbs has been studying at the O’Reilly school of discussion.

And yes it was a short segment.

Great book everyone should buy it so it stays #1.

10. Animal House had a good line
"that boy is a P-I-G pig"

It seems to apply here.

4. Franken pushed back. Both papers have good journalism.
But WSJ editorial page is more biased to the right than NYT ed page is biased to the left.

12. Since I read the Washington Post everyday.....
I would have to say the Post is the most balanced paper around. Look, I'm to the left and I know it. I know when papers are balanced to the left (SMARTER) but I also recognize papers that get both points of view out equally (SMARTEST DUE TO REPUTATION EARNED) The Post is the best paper in the nation doing this. Go to DC and buy the Washington Times and then tell me the Post is a little to the right.

5. If Dobbs can't see the difference between
the journalistic merit of the NYT editorial page vs. the wingnut WSJ editorial page, he is dumber than I thought.

6. he's just amazing, in response to
ridiculous comments from Lou Dobbs. For example, Al gave an excellent example showing how the NYT Editorial Page is not simply a liberal version of the WSJ's, and how it is more consistent in its criticism of secrecy in govt, and does not engage in tactics WSJ does, such as publishing Falwell's accusations of Clinton. Dobbs replied that he agrees they are different--NYT is liberal and WSJ is conservative. Is he a maroon, or is he a whore? If you have good evidence to counter Al, give it to him. If you don't, he wins the point.

8. Can't we all just get along?
dobbs - "there are idiots on the right and left"

dobbs tries to create an impression that there is excessive demagogery on the left and right that leaves the mainstream behind.

He has a point, albeit a rather weak one.

Franken responds that his book is different because it simply explores the truth. I have read the book. Franken had the better point. I expected nothing less.
