Who here likes Lizz and Rachel better than Jerry Springer?
And who would like to petition Sirius and XM to pre-empt him with something else?

There are some great live progressive broadcasts going at the same time;

Thresholds alternating with Border Crossings (KPFT)
Thursdays 11-12 Eastern http://www.kpft.org/programlist.php

Amnesty International Human Rights Show (KPFT)
Wednesdays 11-11:30 Eastern http://www.thehrs.org/

Latino Voices (KPFT)
Fridays 11-12 Eastern http://www.kpft.org/programlist.php

Nancy Skinner (WDTW)
Weekdays 9-12 Eastern http://www.1310wdtw.com/

KGNU Morning Magazine (KGNU)
Mon-Thu 10-11 Eastern; http://www.kgnu.org/news.html
Fri 10-10:30 Eastern

Connections (KGNU)
Fridays 10:30-11:30 Eastern http://www.kgnu.org/connections

Uprising (KPFK)
Weekdays 11-12 Eastern http://www.uprisingradio.org/

And, of course, there's Democracy Now! (http://www.democracynow.org/)

WPFW (http://www.wpfw.org/) has two progressive programs every weekday from 10-11 and 11-12 Eastern;
http://www.wpfw.org/data_programming/programming.html

WBAI (http://www.wbai.org/) also has two progressive programs every weekday from 10-11 and 11-12 Eastern;
http://www.wbai.org/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=133&Itemid=40

KPFK (http://www.kpfk.org/ has a different progressive program each week in its 'Morning Review' timeslot from 10-11;
http://www.kpfk.org/index.php?option=com_staticxt&staticfile=progschedule.html&Itemid=35

KGNU (http://www.kgnu.org/) has some nice recorded stuff they broadcast from 11-11:30 Eastern;

Tuesday-Alan Watts tapes (http://www.alanwatts.com/)
Wednesday/Thursday-Documentaries

I'm not quite clear on the schedule, but they could possibly syndicate shows from Icicle Networks (http://www.iciclenetworks.com/)

At least two of those shows (Nancy Skinner and Thresholds) take calls.

1. I miss Rachel!
Not to mention Lizz and Chuck D. Why did they fire her, anyway? What's going to happen to Chuck? Will he be on Rachel's early morning show? I think AAR are aiming for the red states with Springer. I noticed today that his callers don't sound like anyone I've heard calling before.

2. As far as I know..
As far as I know, Chuck is going to have his own show Sunday nights from 10-12.

I do miss Unfiltered; I tried to give Springer a listen, but I just can't get in to it. Part of the reason I loved Unfiltered was because it was three hours of intelligent discussion on lesser talked about issues.

No disrespect to Randi and Al (because I love them), but with the addition of Springer it seems like they just added another radio personality that is going to rant about the same thing for three hours that we can hear later on AAR.

5. Springer seems a bit dim-witted to me.
I usually got the sense that Rachel, Chuck, and Lizz knew what they were talking about. I rarely get that sense when listening to Springer.

7. Count me in
Springer is boring as hell. This stuff has to be entertaining too, doesn't he know that?

8. I'm giving him some more time
Yesterday I was bored to death, but I thought today was better.

He's going to take some getting used to.

He did handle the loony callers well today. I would have just hung up on that "pig squealing" guy.

9. Dull and dull witted. IMHO....
probably comes from years of doing the dumbest, lowest form of "talk show" on T.V.

I've been trying to listen to Springer but it's been painful so far.

I miss Lizz and Rachel and ChuckD the few times he was on the air.

11. I gave Stephanie Miller a listen today
Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 01:55 PM by deutsey
I liked what I heard. I did like Unfiltered, but I Miller seems more like a radio personality, just based on this one time listening to her. Miller, incidentally, is on my local AAR station during Springer.

I haven't been impressed with Springer, honestly. He's not bad, but he also hasn't made me want to tune in. Randi Rhodes can irritate me sometimes, but I usually tune into her show after the first hour (I listen to Against the Grain on KPFA during the first hour, www.againstthegrain.org).

12. Can't agree with pre-empting him on Sirius
Regardless of what the opinion is of Springer, I'd much rather have Sirius air the ENTIRE AAR lineup. There's already the Sirius Left channel if one needs a change and I don't want the precedent set for changing the Sirius AAR channel.

If they do that, maybe Sirius would consider merging Sirius Left and AAR and then we might get Alan Colmes instead of Mike Malloy, just like XM.

13. I like them both. They are apples and oranges and I wish
there was room for both them. Maybe we need still another station. It wouldn't hurt for competition and would give people a choice. The fact that there seems to be more programming that is popular available than air space would indicate this. There are more than one conservative station around in any given market so why not left of the dial stations? We have three competing against each other in my area. Sirius is not an option for a lot of us.

14. AAR Radio is building an audience to further our causes.

Thier goal is more important than your listening preferences. If Springer can bring ears to the radio, he should be on the radio.
