TOONS: Memorial Edition: Thanks for everything, Nostamj

I only met Nostamj twice -- first at a DU softball get together, and the second seeing his "Question W Review", but despite his low-key demeanor (at least in those brief circumstances), you could sense the passion he put into his endeavors, whether it was his design work, his theater work, his posts, or DU's TOONs. He will be missed.

When he went on hiatus a few months back, I tried to pitch in, posting a version of the TOONs until he returned. I don't know a more suitable way to pay tribute than to try to fill his shoes in that regard once again.

The panel, heavily burdened by time constraints, has been unable to render its verdicts of late, but in honor of the tireless and late Nostamj, checks in to decide the winning entry from today's selection of 'toons, DeLay Division (as there are too many and too diverse a selection, and the panel is nothing if not lazy):

The panel generally finds that depictions of Tom DeLay are pretty funny, reminding us not so much of a venal Congressman from Texas as Cotton Hill, the kneeless father of narrow-urethraed Hank Hill. In a target-rich environment such as surrounds the Hammer, cartoon number 4 is the panel's choice for best DeLay toon, although number 6 is good for a giggle.

I've been off the computer for a couple of days and just got back on this morning. I'm stunned and saddened along with very surprised. I talked with him just a few weeks ago and he designed a DeLay bumper sticker and buttons for me. I'd noticed last week his toons were missing and there were no posts from him anywhere, but I had no idea.

Thank you once again and Jeff, you will be dearly missed and always remembered.
