4. I think that was Newsweek's "call" poll
correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a great big difference from what's going on online. They must have targeted pugs?

7. I think the blue is the Newsweek poll results
This poll is taken by MSNBC and the results are in black - the blue is there for comparison.

22. There was a huge discrepancy between the blue and the black...
I like the black numbers far more than the blue!

8. I think. . .
The blue indicates the results that Newsweek got when they conducted a formal more scientific poll and the black results are what they got off of Web respondents. The blue, while not as damaging as the black, are still pretty damaging to Bush*

18. Keep in mind just WHO is online.
Cyberspace has a much heavier concentration of dittomonkeys and other conservative types than the general population. For * to have a "not only no, but hell no" rating of 77% is far more significant than MSNBC is likely to let on.

9. Black is the online results.
Blue is the Newsweek national poll.

"The percentages in blue represent the results of the national poll, not including your response.

The poll was taken July 10-11, 2003 and had a +/- 3 percent margin of error."

The subtext is in the difference between the two polls. The Newsweak poll is much less anti-* than the new online figures.

I looked at this poll about 1 hour ago & it seems to be getting more & more negative. For example, right now with 7411 votes Bush "re"-elect is 21% Yes, 77% No!!!
The earlier Newsweak result had been 47-46 (still bad, but Migod--21-77?)

Note that the Newsweak poll was also probably based on about 1200 respondents, while the current one is over 7400 so far. Theoretically, of course, the Newsweak sample is more representative of the population at large. But Migod! 21-77%!!!

6. If you back up to the main page of MSNBC
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 07:19 AM by jamesinca
you too can take the survey. These were the results posted when I took the thing. I got so excited I wet myself and posted the link to the results page, not the survey. I will go hunt down the link to the actual survey so you all may partake.

on edit: Link to article with survey

10. I took it last night
I love both the sets of results. The Newsweek poll is probably more representative of the public at large, but the online polls is probably very representative of the people who care enough to know that poll is there.

14. This poll represents
...the people who have computers, and therefore have access to something besides the mass media and their rather timid reporting of this whole stinking mess.

The polls which rely on cold telephone calls are giving Bush a bigger pass because a lot of the folks they're polling are either computer phobic, too poor to have one, or too disinterested to use it to do anything but play solitaire.

It's these folks that we have to figure out how to reach, although it seems even they are starting to come out of their mass media induced stupor.

12. Results still not good for Chimpy
Just after 9am, 7898 respondents, reelect still at 21% Yes, 77% NO

More interestingly, Question 8:

The economy and jobs 49% 50%
Terrorism and homeland security 8% 22%
Both equally 38% 25%
Other/Don't know 5% 3%

It's STILL the economy, stupid!

15. This poll demonstrates the gap of knowledge.....
between those who use the internet for news sources and those who don't. The traditional mass media feeds propaganda to the masses and they fall for it.

20. Makes you wonder
who Newsweek calls for their polls.

They always seem to come out more for bush then what the rest of the world thinks.

Would you rather base peoples feelings on 1015 phone calls or
10,000 responses from people on the web.

There is nothing more scientific about a phone poll than there is an internet poll. When someone calls your house you feel more intimidated
and will give answeres they think the poller wants to hear. A web poll
allows people to speak their mind.

Someone told me.... Well the only reason the internet poll shows that people dont like bush is because only people who dont like him go to that website and take the poll..........BS

23. Done...
I am impressed that you can only vote once, (but determined freepers will use different user names/sites).

About all of the 77% #'s: This poll is pretty cut and dried, either your for or against the admin policies. There were a few exceptions, but a poll like this will have most choosing 'either/or', so the preferences of middle ground are pretty well absent. I voted on one that was somewhat miidle, but that was it, all the rest were completly
against the admin.
