Some of these Gannon rumors are taking on BIZARRE overtones

Hunter and snuff films

The Gannon/Gosch connection was first made public early in the morning on Feb. 20. Later that same day, Hunter S. Thompson was found dead in his home, the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

Few people would ever have thought to connect Thompson and Gosch, but those familiar with the tales of child abuse and pedophilia documented in "The Franklin Cover-Up," a book first released in 1994 by former Neb. State Sen. John DeCamp, understand the association.

In his book, DeCamp relates many interviews and discussions with Paul Bonacci, the young man who claims to have been involved with the kidnapping of Johnny Gosch. Bonacci told horrific tales of being forced into sex with adults and other children. In one case he recalls being flown into Nevada with another young boy whom he did not know. They took on another passenger there and headed to a secluded location where Bonacci says he was forced to have sex with the younger boy. The young boy, Bonacci claims in this book, was also forced to have sex with adult males, who then killed the boy with a gunshot to the head. Bonacci says he was then forced to have sex with the corpse.

......Jeff Gannon?...Hunter S. Thompson?....child snuff films?....
i need more coffee. this shit is W E I R D...........

1. thank you for that last qualifier
Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 05:07 AM by Kire
this conspiracy shit is not just weird, it's stupid

If Gannon was a kidnapped as a 12 year old boy in 1982, how did he graduate from my college in 1980?

15. people like conspiracies because they are simple
It's easier to think of one or two evil men as responsible for all that ails the world. If we can blame Bush or Gannon for everything, then we don't have to examine just how complex and chaotic the world really is.

22. kinda like religion
In the case of religion all the world's problems can be blamed on the devil - for some DUers they can all be blamed on Bush, Gannon or Rove. Conspiracy theories often become a pseudo-religion of their own; they fill a vacancy for many who reject traditional-relgion. Both conspiracy theories and religion offer the same kind of concise way to explain the world's mysteries and complexities, which is what makes them so appealing.

2. blegh
how tacky to smear HST right after he punched his proverbial ticket... though he'd probably get a chuckle out of it and fire off a 4 page diatribe if he were still alive.

3. 'caught with either a live hooker, or a dead boy'
remember that old bromide, the only scandal that could bring down senator blowhard is to catch him in bed with either a live hooker, or a dead boy? sick

but i do remember persistant rumors during bush one of this kind of activity involving bohemian grove.

13. Actually, it was from Gov. Edwin Edwards of Louisiana (my home..
state). On the eve of an election, he was so confident he stated that the only way he could lose the election is if he got caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl.

5. I don't think the intention is to smear
Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 05:34 AM by slaveplanet
but more , raise the question ...you've got a dead HST, an arrested Rusty Nelson , an arrested Paul Bishop, the latter who seemingly dissappears for 20 years? this all happens within days of Gannon being exposed....the HST mention (or as you refer to as smear) has been a matter of speculation for years.

7. yeah, maybe you could go pester his widow about it...
... i'm sure it won't be taken as a smear, his family would love to hear about it - maybe you can try to bring up such jolly speculation to his son when they spread the ashes in august. He'll appreciate the raised question, as do his fans.

and have no intention of pestering anyone about it. But this is what the article speculates.

4. This is pollution.
HST was fucking brilliant and can't defend himself against these baseless accusations now- nice of you to bring them up now since you say the book has been out since 1994. The only connection you draw is tangential and is a complete coincidence. This is character assasination and you ought to be ashamed.

10. I thought the rumour was
that hst was researching a book that exposed these events, and not that he was personally involved. Hence the implication that he was "suicided".

I know you didn't write it but you wrote it here. If the fig leaf for this garbage is concern for any injured children, spend the time helping kids, not smearing the dead.
Jesus.

17. LMOA.
Always nice to run into a Twin Peaks fan. When I first heard about these rumors--and because I have not yet seen credible evidence they're anything by rumors, I'm just not going to believe them--I was nausiated by their ludicrous elements. Ridiculous.

12. How come some people cannot be happy until....
every last liberal and/or anti-establishment figure is torn down. To me, this casts more grave doubt on this whole Gosch/Gannon thing. It appears the authors are grasping at anything that might capture one's attention.

NOTE: Mopaul, I'm not addressing this to you. I realize you just posted the article.

18. pure speculation and conjecture about HST....
....probably more in the vein of what he KNEW about it all than what he *participated* in...I'd guess the former to be the case in regard to Hunter...it's more of what he'd learned about top level activities over the years. :eyes:

21. Have you seen this
"The alternative weekly paper that published the Gannon/Gosch piece closed its doors the day the story came out and will not print another issue. The paper will apparently be printing under the name of another alt-type weekly paper in town (cityview) but the writer of the Pointblank piece - the managing editor - was fired. Apparently, the company that owns the new paper is owned by Michael Gartner, a high-powered individual in Des Moines who owns the Minor league baseball team in that town, oversees a state board that disburses funds to big business, and was a former writer for the Des Moines Register and Tribune who once won a Pulitzer. He was also once president of NBC news, but was forced to leave after the debacle when they blew up trucks with rockets to make them look like they exploded on impact."
