Will you talk politics with everyone?
What I mean is, I'll talk politics with anyone, even if I know they blatantly disagree.

Is that the way you see it, or are there certain people who, if they enter/start a political conversation, you exit?

1. Not with coworkers
Until I've been to a shooting range with them. After that, I feel I can trust them.

However there are those who refuse to accept reality with whom I have to restrain myself. It's hard to try to communicate with someone who won't admit 2+2=4.

6. When you live in a small community like I do you can't
always run around pissing people off, so you need to select who you know you can have a good-natured political disagreement without repercussions.

7. Sometimes I'd rather talk with people I blatantly disagree with.

9. not appropriate to talk politics with everyone
In a business situation, where your employer expects you to provide good service to all, it seems rude to bring up politics. In a situation where you are the customer and you know the sales clerk or service person has to listen to whatever you say since they're working, again, it seems unfair to trap a captive audience. I prefer to leave blatant discourtesy and obnoxious proselytizing to the fundies.

There are also situations where you know a person's mind is fixed so there is no point to further discussion. Either drop the person from your circle or drop the discussion.

and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

I have to keep my temper under control or I will just lose it and be arrested for assault. Arguing politics with a republican can escalate and spin out of control for me. I CAN NOT handle it. I don't need jail time in my life I just leave.

13. No. There is more to life than politics.
I've seen DUers around here stating they're going to stop going to Christmas dinner with relatives because they're pukes.

Actually, I've seen flame wars over the subject...

That's moronic!!

My parents are pukes, and I couldn't care less...I still love them. I have friends who lean right, and I couldn't care less...I still love them.

There is more to life than running around all red faced and pissed off.

15. Some families need to be avoided - this past Christmas
my brother-in-law started a political conversation. He is an absolute uninformed idiot btw and never allows Faux News to be turned off. He screamed at me that all Democrats should be killed. I just asked him why he was so angry. He than changed his idea about killing Demos to just putting them all in jail.

The rest of the repug family just set there - no one said a word, no one tried to back him down, no one apologized. Ah Kansas. The only good thing about it is that I got to leave there.

14. Everyone except for Mom!
Anything beyond: "I love you Mom" is treading on dangerous territory.

If she asks: "how are you doing", my answer is: "I love you Mom". Its just easier that way. I will never cut through her Kool-Aid induced fog, so why bother.

Everyone else is fair game, including my siblings, whom I scold for joining the fascists.

My sis got upset when I told her she was brainwashed. She thought it was insulting. I said: not at all, I was giving you the benefit of doubt, assuming that you weren't knowingly supporting fascism.
