He is claiming that a recent "Factor" poll showing 60% of respondents believe Tom DeLay is guilty of an ethical lapse proves that he and Fox don't cater to conservatives, and are in fact, truly "Fair and Balanced". I sent him the following: O'Reilly, The Tom DeLay poll proves nothing vis-a-vis your viewership. The Factor, and indeed all of FoxNews, is watched almost exclusively by the conservative fringe. The main thing your poll shows is that DeLay's behavior has been SO egregious that even a majority of conservatives can no longer stomach him. The other fact it reveals is that 40% of your viewers would vote for ANY Republican, even if her or she were caught "en flagrante" with a loofah, a falafel, and a goat. By all means, keep flogging your cheap crap, and keep preaching to your insular little choir; but for the love of God, please stop trying to convince any sentient being that "Fair and Balanced" is anything other than the punchline to a bad joke. Sincerely,
|

What a bastard he is. Excellent letter. For him to even mention that Fox is "fair and balanced" because of a non-scientific poll shows how desperate the network is to be respectable.
edited for poor spelling.

O'Reilly,
The Factor, and indeed all of FoxNews, is..."Fair and Balanced"
Sincerely,
Bravo
Then He'll say:
"Mr Bravo, Thank you. You're a true patriot and a great american"

6. 60% of Factor viewers, 90% on MSNBC poll, tells us |
|
more Fox viewers will tolerate corruption? That's a pretty large gap.

Laughed out loud.
You can bet the poor little intern receiving it will be laughing too; he or she just won't be able to let Falfel-Boy see.

8. Possible to have non-conservative audience and still be biased |
|
Even if the 60% figure shows that moderates and liberals are watching, in addition to conservatives, this doesn't mean that they are Fair and Balanced. A show could still be highly biased but be watched by people who disagree.

Here they go again. Remember when O'Reilly said he'd never forgive this regime if it was proven there weren't WMDs...then conveniently ignored it when the spin turned to going after the "terrorists" our invasion had created. A zero-sum game the right wing media constantly plays to give them cover if someone dares to expose their hypocrisies.
The fun here is I don't think many of the wing nut spinners know what to make of DeLay's mess. They know it's bad, they know it's real and they know they can't hide it much longer. But they also know this guy is a "god" to their coven of listeners and the big money donors. Pissing off this guy is like pissing off Don Corleone (or Sonny may be a better comparison)...they have long grown to fear this weasel that unless they see him dead with a silver spike through the heart, they will fear his influence and power. An interesting spot to be in indeed.
Looks like O'Reilly has been chosen to play "good cop" on this sham network...and ironically, it does make Faux look more balanced compared to its rivals. During the Schaivo circus, O'Reilly was one of the few voices that favored removing the tube and that looked almost "left wing" in comparison with the coverage on the other networks. Sure, no sooner was O'Reilly gone than there's Hannity doing a trailer-trash rally at the Hospice, but for that 60 minutes Faux actually looks "balanced", and gives Repugnicans and the network cover in being so shrill and over-the-top...not to mention highly innacurate the rest of the time.

15. Exactly what I said when I saw that. The fact that 40% |
|
of his viewers don't see anything wrong at all with what DeLay is doing shows just how biased he and his twisted network are.
And, as you pointed out, it just enforces the perception that a lot of conservatives will support any Republican no matter what illegal, immoral, or unethical things they may do.
