Gunowners.org is AGAINST the nuclear option.
The filibuster, or the threat of it, has been used often to save gun rights. They are afraid that the loss of the filibuster will lead to anti-gun legislation if the Democrats are ever back in control.

1. Not just Democrats,
but anyone who seeks to curtail our liberties. Gun ownership is a matter of freedom, not political affiliations.

2. So?

This is a group with ties to Aryan Nations and the Christian Identity people. I wouldn't commend them for taking one good stance when their principles are clearly out of whack.

I just checked their website and Larry Pratt is still prominently involved, if not still the head of the organization. He was Steve Forbes' campaign manager in 96 until other Republicans discovered that Pratt was rather cordial with various white supremacists.

Here's a couple of links for books that they sell, just for a clearer picture of who we're talking about.

(look close at who wrote the forward)

Edit: Pratt was a 'prominent campaign aide' to Pat Buchanan in 96 according to the Anti-Defamation League's Militia Watch.

3. You missed the point.
The point is NOT praise for them. The point is that there is opposition to the nuclear option from a group that is normally strongly Republican.

The Republican leadership is now getting shot at by their own side.

4. I jumped the gun
Someone else posted a thread saying we should join forces or something with this band of twits the other day. I read into what you wrote instead of actually reading it, if that makes sense. Sorry about that. This bunch of nuts just makes me a bit nervous, you know?

5. OK. I don't know much about that particular group.
I ran across it which research for a thread that I am planning to start about gun contol. I thought it would be interesting to see that there is division among them on some things, just as there is here.

6. You can use their site send e-mails to your Senators
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1713534&mesg_id=1713534 I am in a red state and figued that the only way that I would get any attention from my senator would be to pretend to be a gun owner and to send a message using the GOA website.

7. my opinion...
I think most gun owners are basically against any monkeying around with the constitution other than by the constitutionally established method, the amendment process. 51% of the Senate, in no way, shape, or form duplicates that process.
