Let's nail them on basic "Free Market" economics! |
|
Rethugs love to talk about the Free Market (as opposed, of course, to Communism, which everyone knows is bad).
But, which kind of Free Market System are they talking about?
Basically, there are 2: Caveat Vendor (let the seller beware) and Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware).
After many years of a Caveat Emptor system in which many people were unknowingly sold snake-oil products, we shifted to a Caveat Vendor system.
In today's world, where Vendors have access to millions of dollars of advertising, it only makes sense that the "average guy" has some kind of assurance that the product lives up to it's expectations: or, at least, the average guy has some kind of assurance of recompense if the product does not perform as the seller advertised.
There it is. Congress is moving closer and closer to letting "Corporations" sell us any kind of snake oil they want. And Congress is limiting our options to find justice for us, the People of the United States.

Good idea, now connect it to the personal level-lead in the candy, short product lifecycle-whose only purpose is to force the consumer to buy it again. & then don't stop til their mirage is dissipated. Get people to understand on the personal level & give them ways they can take action to counter all those multinational corporations & poli(ticians in their)-pockets. Obviously, the people need to become a united group, or it's never going to happen. Checking for banned chemicals on imported food would create jobs, testing imported jewelry for lead & other toxins would again, create jobs. Requiring power plants to upgrade their equipment would (in theory I guess) create more jobs. Upgrading our power lines, repairing our bridges...there's so much that could be done, if only some group would electrify the public & really take charge.
