Can anyone verify if this is a valid way to avoid the draft? |
|
http://100777.com/node/1154Basically it says that joining the miltary is optional, but if you refuse they cannot force you. Please read and verify.

1. There is no draft right now, so of course they can't force you to |
|
"volunteer." At least not yet. But if the draft is ever reinstituted, they sure as shootin' could make you go; the only alternatives would be jail, obtaining CO status, or leaving the country.

A openly gay man was drafted in 1972. When asked, he said he was gay. After serving in the Navy for 24 years, he was given a dishonorable discharge for 'lying on his enlistment forms' and claiming to be not gay...
The Navy lost the court case, as every one of his enlistment (and re-enlistment) forms indicated that he was gay. His discharge was changed to 'honorable in the best interest of the service' (a way of discharging you that you can't fight), and he recieves his full retirement benefits.
But, back to the point...
If they decide to start a draft, they will ignore all attempts to claim homosexuality, insanity, CO status, etc. to get thier quota for the month. Get your CO status in early.

17. I Think For CO Status.... |
|
....you have to have a long, well established history of nonviolent beliefs and membership in antiwar/nonviolent groups including religion (ie Friends, UU, etc.)I don't think you can wait until you get your draft notice and then walk in to the draft board and say, "Oh by the way, I'm a CO" and expect it to fly.

Of course we all know that shrubco is going to have to perpetuate another attack on the US in order to get people to even consider a draft, so we must be vigilant and keep watching them for the signs that is is coming.
Ok the signs are all there. The market dropped, shrubs ratings are guttered, people are starting to wake up. I think the attack is for next sat in dc.
Here's why. Shrub will be in TN (i think) DC is having those aerial tests that they had on 9/11 in order to confuse (or feign confusion) so that our military aircraft could not respond to the attack.
stocks dropped dramatically yesterday.
Michael Moore and Timothy McVeigh's birthdays are the 23rd.
Ok, I know it's a long shot but if we keep squalking every time there is a chance that it might happen, maybe it will prevent them from doing it.
For now your students should start protesting the coming draft. Put signs about town. Start to get people riled up about the draft before it happens. It just may be that if they see how worked up we are without a draft, they may decide to not try to do it. We have to wake the sheeple.

You either get drafted, flee, get Co Status or go to jail. Now the selective service info is correct.

14. the last time we had a draft law married men were |
|
excluded from the draft. As to single parents it was rather a rare thing back then and as far as I know there was no exclusions for that. I maybe wrong but if not then your guess is as good as mine if they reinstate the draft.

Lenidog,
You are misinformed.
While it was true for a while in the early 1960s that married men were deferred (placed into a less vulnerable category) and usually ended up reaching the safe age of 26 before being drafted, that kind of deferment stopped when the need became great in the Vietnam War. Selective Service also started drafting from the nineteen year olds and working upward, instead of starting with 25 and working downward to younger men (as had been the case in the earliest years of the war).
Being too fat or too thin did, indeed, get you a deferment at all times during the Vietnam conflict. I escaped by being too thin. However, I was placed in 1-Y, which meant that I could theoretically be recalled and re-examined, though it was not generally done in our state.
4-F was for the really unfit, those who would never be taken.

26. I don't know but I think they use the standard doctors weight and height |
|
charts to judge. If you fall below the average or above the average then they wont draft you. This also goes for volunteering a friend of mine years ago almost didn't make it into the Air National Guard because he was too thin. He missed the cutoff point by 3 lbs.

28. You would have to be careful though |
|
I forget what it is but their is a classification which they could put you under that would have you come back letter for a check up. In other words you would be temporarily unfit depending on how old you are or how desperate they would be you might be able to escape using the age clause which was 26 last time. Another possibility is allergies a food allergy say peanuts or even a substance allergy say wool could get you out. When I was in a guy in my basic training platoon got an ELS discharge because they discovered that he had a sever reaction to wool. Which mean no blankets, sweaters, socks or glove liners for him.

Take a look at the links they provide and the subcategories they have on the site. This line of reasoning is similar to the 'sovereign citizen' concept that's pretty popular on the far right.

The same suckers who think they can get out of the draft like this are probably the ones who believe all the arguments that the government can't force you to pay income taxes.

19. My ex refused the draft. |
|
He suffered with terrible asthma all his life. Even his draft physical showed that he was physically unfit to serve in the military. But this was the VietNam era so they classified him as 1A anyway and gave him a date to show up for induction. He protested and they assured him that his asthma wouldn't be a problem because they'd assign him to a desk stateside to which he responded that that wouldn't do, either, because that would just mean that some poor schmuck who was rightly classified 1A who would otherwise get that stateside desk job would have to go to Nam in his place. They told him he'd have to show up for induction anyway.
So he did. And he told him when he arrived that he would be refusing because he was improperly classified. They then told him to stand at the far end of the line so as not to get in anyone's way and, as the inductees lined-up, an officer who was standing next to him actually leaned in toward him and said, "If you really intend to do this thing, then whatever you do, do NOT step across the line when they tell you to or you'll fuck the whole thing up". So they told the inductees to step forward and he didn't.
They then told him how much they admired the strength of his convictions and his integrity and offered him a job in either the Secret Service or the CIA, his choice. He said "Gee thanks, but I'm an artist and have no interest in spywork or protecting Richard Nixon" after which he walked out.
Two weeks later, he received a notice that he had been re-classified 4F and he never heard from them again.
True story.

21. I think it might be true, however it will most likely still land you in |
|
jail. However, I would rather be in jail for refusing to join the army against my will then to be forced to go kill and be killed for Bush.
I think that everyone that is there now or has been there is going to be fucked up. I don't think that you can run around with a target on your back, knowing that your govt won't even spend the bucks for proper equiptment, for very long before you begin to get mental damage. If that's not enough the military is going to play mind games with you and form you into a killer. You will do acts that will haunt you for the rest of your life should you live.
If thats still not enough, the least medically that you are going to face is gulf war syndrome from the DU bombing. Of course thats if you don't get half your face blown off or your legs. Then of course when you get home to recoup from your injuries, you will find that all you get is another park bench to sleep on in DC.
wow, I didn't know I was feeling so shitty today.
