Drug giant accused of false claims (Dateline NBC)
Dateline had an outstanding expose of one of the country's biggest pharmaceutical companies, Warner-Lambert. The show was terrific and the story consisting of the transcript ( at http://www.msnbc.com/news/937302.asp ) is currently second in the top ten. Here's some excerpts: "July 11 — The questions began with the confession of an insider at one of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical firms. He says his former company deliberately distorted information about one of its (most popular) drugs, possibly putting lives at risk, and costing patients and taxpayers millions of dollars. “Dateline” went looking for some answers and has the results of a year-long investigation into what may be one of the biggest medical deceptions in history. "

DAVID FRANKLIN: “I was trained to deceive, to lie to doctors.”
John Hockenberry: “So these doctors were completely misled?”
Franklin: “Absolutely.”
Who would train and then pay someone to mislead doctors? Scientist David Franklin says pharmaceutical company Warner-Lambert paid him to do that back in 1996.
Franklin: “It was my responsibility to leverage the trust that physicians had with pharmaceutical companies to corrupt the relationship between the physician and the patient.”

1. I, too, saw that, Rev
and it makes you wonder just how far they will go considering: how many meds patients are prescribed and the cost of those meds. They are really scraping the bottom to play with peoples lives. It has taken me 60 yrs. and the internet to realize that there is such corruption in this world. Wonder if its always been this way! Can we end this? Our leaders need to take charge, no matter how painful, and put these corporations on notice. That is Big Brother I would appreciate.

2. Warn anybody on "Neurontin"
I would recommend that you ask your loved ones if they are on Warn anybody on "Neurontin", because it's been prescribed for MANY conditions for the sole reason that the company wants profits.
