9/11 took our heart away. |
|
If any event fundamentally changed us in recent times it was that one. While, in spite of my fighting for my ideals, I have generally never been horribly idealistic. The fact is, while America has never been perfect, we at least had some character and something that made this country great. I don't entirely know what it was, but something. In spite of having been responsible for some of the most horrible things in history (e.g. slavery and Indian wars), we also had some great points. But 9/11 has just turned into an excuse for those in power to point fingers and conduct witch hunts. To foist their Patriot Act on us and to tell us to continue to vote for their party. To call the other side unpatriotic for speaking their minds. After the last election, I feel more and more that the America I care about is dead.

when we can see a NAT ON AN ELEPHANTS ASS from 50 miles one should never accept the fact that we could not see something as huge as an airliners that were in the air for basically one-hour and forty-five minutes---now about this bridge in brooklyn---never mind LIHOP

2. More like a mini-stroke |

We were partially paralyzed (from fear) and not coherent enough to argue...at first. I mostly blame the lack of true investigative and informative reporting from the MSM. It is their job to keep things in perspective and provide rational thought. They were cheerleaders for the Iraq invasion because they were too chickenshit to challenge our "leaders".
But, guess what, the rehabilitation has started and we're making progress everyday.

3. we have to carry on to make this America again |

when I was a kid we had no indoor plumbing, getting water was something we had to do, it did not gush out of a faucet, we had to struggle with buckets and ropes, ice & packed snow to get to the water and there was always danger of falling thru the ice to the dark water below on a cold winter night, but somehow the struggle made us want it more, we were not content to sit in the warm house that was brightly lit, we had to go out into the darkness to feed our thirst, that is what freedom is, that is what we must do now, seek it in the cold, snow crusted ground, in the bitter winds, in the darkness, to bring the freedom back to home to us.

hadn't gone to Florida and lied in 2000, I'm willing to bet we NEVER would have seen any planes flown into buildings.
Except maybe in "Independence Day Part IV" or something similar.
By end of day on September 11, 2001, I was already putting the pieces together as to Bu$hCo's implicit cooperation. That is, after I confirmed that all my family and friends were alive and okay. :patriot:

5. To fully restore civil liberties, we must expose 9/11 |

Can't remember where I read that, but it's true. People need the truth and they need it now more than ever.

You know.. the one that's so twisted, so "out there" that it's next to impossible to bring yourself to believe that Americans could even THINK of trying to pull it off....because we can't believe anyone would be THAT awful.
We here have had the scales fall (or be scraped - ouch) from our eyes and it is now our responsibility to bring along the rest of the country in it's understanding of how badly the ideals of America are being SCREWED!

the right wing has nothing without fear. 9/11 gave them their recruiting tool and it worked.
Many in America are drugged, fearful and obedient hoping they will be safe.
I was watching "Steal This Movie" about Abbie Hoffman in the 60s and 70s. I realized while watching the movie that we really suffered the fatal blow during those times. Assassinations of our leaders and infiltrations by the FBA and CIA finished it off. It has been greed and selfishness ever since.
