Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist will stop at nothing to push his "nuclear option" on the American people. This Sunday, he is speaking via closed circuit television to thousands of church congregations organized by the radical right Family Research Council as a part of "Justice Sunday," a desperate and offensive campaign claiming that the 200 year-old Senate filibuster is being used to target people of faith.
This is a campaign of religious McCarthyism. We must not let it pass without calling Frist to account for his pandering to the Religious Right and his unconscionable injection of religion into the business of Congress. And House Speaker Tom DeLay's recent threats against the judges in the Schiavo case make this all the more urgent.
Frist and his "Justice Sunday" allies want to clear the path for President Bush's extreme far-right nominations to the federal courts, including the Supreme Court. They can do it by nuking the filibuster, the last "check and balance" against the majority's abuse of power.
Help us stop Senate Majority Leader Frist from 'going nuclear' on our Constitution. Senators Frist and Delay want to do away with an independent judiciary and replace it with Justices who will give rubberstamp approval of their extremist legislative agenda. And their campaign to destroy the filibuster is the first step in that direction.

1. Has anybody got a list, yet, of where the Christo-Fascists |
|
will be peddling their pre-Enlightenment, dark-ages, anti-democratic, Constitution and Liberty-hating duh-fest?
I think a nice outbreak of protests is in order. I'm in Iowa. I will travel a reasonable distance. I tried to sign up to find out about broadcasts in my area, but they think that, uh, "Dr. Samosa" will be hosting a screening of "War on Modernity," in his tiny little Hindu church.
In other words, that didn't work.

because without the filibuster rule, there will be no stopping the neo-cons. Anything they want, they can get.

4. If they are successful |

it will be an historic and dark moment. A grab for control of the very laws of a country (the courts) is basically a grab for total control. Parties have resisted this in the past when they had the chance realizing the implications. It will be unchartered territory for us all.
