Limbaugh critical of Republicans going squishy on filibuster bill... |
|
Because for silly things like "traditon" or some such rot. Santorum may be going soft on the issue.
Then he goes off on the "liberals" who lost the election but act like they "won". To the victors belong the spoils. They can do whatever they wish. They "won". The "losers" have nothing to say about it. Can't you ignorant people see what I'm telling you, he seems to be saying. :)

9. To the victors the spoils? |
|
He's talking about our country. This isn't a game with a final score. There will be another election in the future, right? I think that is where a lot of the venom in our country comes from. It's not a sporting event or board game to win. They are republicans because it is the winning side now. Kinda like people who were Chicago Bull fans when M Jordan played, no risk band wagon.
Most people who voted for Bush don't really know what they voted for. The people I know who voted for Bush can't really articulate what he has done for them in the last 4 years. It always comes back to "he's better than Clinton". If you push them on issues they don't want government in their homes, they think the economy is tanking and corporations & congress can't be trusted. They are republicans because it is the winning side now.

10. I LOOOVE these filibuster pundits..... |
|
Lurve them!
Go ahead guys, use the nuclear option. I dare ya! These doofuses are short-sighted to think that the filibuster bill would NEVER be turned against them. They honestly believe there has been a permanent sea-change in the attitudes of this country that makes the GOP believe that they'll be in power forever.

11. Can't agree with you... |
|
I don't favor ending the filibuster rule, because no matter which party is in power, there should be roadblocks in place to prevent them from just doing as they please. Do I think there has been some sort of permanent change vis the republicans taking power? No. I think the next round of elections will see some positive democratic movement. Still, even if the dems had both houses and the presidency, I wouldn't want them to have unbridled power to just ignore the 'pukes anymore than I want to see the 'pukes do it to us.

12. Actually we are in agreement............. |
|
I must admit that I was being a bit melodramatic to make a point. The gist of my comment was that the GOP is exuding an air of indestructibility right now. They feel no compunctions about changing the rules to suit their immediate needs, only to sell their future constituents down the river. Ultimately, I think the nuclear option is bad for all concerned, no matter which side of the aisle they are from. But the GOP needs to be taken down a few pegs, and this may have to be the bully who does it.

14. Changing the filibuster rule isn't the nuclear option |
|
the nuclear option is what happens after the filibuster rule is changed -- then the Dems will go on the offensive and nitpick the Senate to death over minor issues that will call for repeated roll call votes, etc -- bring the Senate to a crashing halt over delay tactics
