Is anyone listening to John Kerry on C-Span2 |
|
He is seriously going off about what is happening in government today.

6. He is putting it on front street as to how the Republicans |
|
are implementing authoritarian rule. Talked about how one judge reduced the sentence of a convicted cross-burner.
It's about time the debate in Congress turned to what is actually going on instead of beating around the bush. John's stock seriously went up in my book today.

5. He is hitting on every major point of the Republicans' ploys. |
|
Will they spend their time defending Tom DeLay instead of defending the American people?
They spend more time preserving the power for their party then serving the needs of the American people.
They can't win the debates on the issues with the strength of their arguments so they change the rules.

7. My favorite part was something about |
|
raising religious arguments when it had nothing to do with what is at issue. He also clearly stated there is a seperation of church and state.

11. I think the reason is: |
|
We are looking squarely at a Constitutional crises developing in government and maybe John got to the point where he realized there is nothing left to loose.
On C-Span last week a conference of "the Judeo-Christian coalition to restore the Constitution". The people who are backing the Constitution Restoration Act, and they clearly stated that their goal is to invoke a Constitutional crises. Maybe the Democrats are finally starting to get the message.

Stevens gets up and ooops, recalls fond memories of the Contras with Negroponte... Um, Ted... there was a little thingy about that time frame... now what was that called... Iran something, um... Iran-Contra? Fucking asshole. How can anyone point to a time in history, fondly, when the President and Veep were both on trial for crimes against America? (although humanity never came up)?

Attack your opponents directly and forcefull at their perceived strongest point. In this case the Rethugs think they own religion in America. Screw them. Kerry is right!
Wow! What a speech.

13. Fantastic floor speech |
|
He's mad--it's as heated as I've ever seen him.
"No one with those priorities has a right to use faith to intimidate any one of us!"
"That's not the way it works here, and that's not how our founding fathers intended it!"
"...inserting government into our private lives...substandard extremist judges...narrow, stubborn agenda..."
Strong words delivered in the strongest way, given the natural dignity and gravitas of the senator from Massachusetts! Moral outrage at the beasts at work to undermine our democracy.

18. cool. post it. I want to see it. I love Kerry. I just wish he (and others) |
|
were as forceful when campaigning. I get video emails from kerry and I'm amazed at how frank and sharp he is when it's not a photo-op or campaign speech. He should have been this forceful over the summer and fall.
