Automobiles, temporal law, teenage pregnancies, morality.

In 1927, families were still closely knit. Cars were not as affordable.

Automobiles were popular in 1967. Very affordable too. Teenagers rebelling continued to rise from the 1950s, which seems the period when automobile usage started to skyrocket. Teenage pregnancies were also going up.

Had automobiles been so common in 1927, would teens of that era be likely to get their main squeeze, drive off to some Luverz' Lane, and do the hokey pokey and end up as unwitting parents?

I don't think "no morality on the kiddies' parts" is the whole problem. Access to faster transport technology probably played a role too.

Yet many say it's just morality and nothing more. I think they're wrong.

Apart from faster means of transport combined with rebellion and/or lust, what else would contribute to higher pregnancies and, let's be honest, if such technologies existed 143 years ago, Abe Lincoln could have more readily hidden his purported proclivities. (and I don't think he's gay or bi, but that's another topic!)
